I absolutely love this quote regarding Alyssa Thomas' response (or better said, lack of acknowledgement) to Kelly's defense: " If Alyssa Thomas thinks that, that’s fine. I didn’t know that All-Americans turn the ball over eight times without someone helping them turn it over." The quote was taken from Rich Elliot's blog.

Below are Thomas' post game quotes:

Alyssa Thomas

Were you proud of the way the team played today?

“Absolutely. You could just tell on our faces, we were not disappointed in the way we played. We’re the first team to actually give UConn a game. They’ve played 10 players all year and they shortened their bench to six. So I’m absolutely proud of my team.”

What about UConn’s defense made things difficult?

“I think it was just myself; just in my head and over-amped. They didn’t do anything that we haven’t seen all year. It just came down to us hitting shots.”

She's wrong about the 6 players, btw. 7 players had 19+ minutes, another had 8 and yet another had 7. Incidentally, I'm not knocking her - kids of her caliber need that swagger; it's what makes them special.

The kind of statement the word "ludicrous" was invented for.

I understand the desire to put the best possible spin on things, but when you go too far, it backfires.

OTOH, Coach Frese was very complimentary of Kelis Fisher.

Brenda Frese: “She makes play after play and was so tough and so physical. She doesn’t take a play off. She continues to work defensively. Offensively, she runs you around in circles. She cuts hard. She never takes a possession off.’’ Quote was taken from Rich Elliot's blog as well.

I was hoping that Geno had stopped responding to opposing players' behaviors.

I was hoping that Geno had stopped responding to opposing players' behaviors.

Geno responded to an opposing player's comment (as opposed to behavior) and the opposing player's comment dissed his favorite player (Kelly Faris).

Why are you troubled by this?

That's a behavior, no?

That's a behavior, no?

Okay. But back to the main point: Why so troubled by Geno's response when told of Thomas' behavior/comment dissing Kelly Faris' defense?

He was probably asked a question and he answered it in typical Geno fashion.
