I agree that Maya's 3,036 mark will last a long time. Matching it requires someone who is very good as a freshman, stays healthy, and is the go-to scorer for at least one season. Even the great Stewie or Lou couldn't come close. Both Kelsey Plum and Kelsey Mitchell passed Maya, but the number of 3,000-point scorers in NCAA history is still very small. Looking down the road, I see one player who stands out and could approach 3,000 points. I sure hope she does it at UConn.It's an interesting side question, to me, just how long Maya's record will last. I think it will be a very long time.
A lot of factors are working to protect this record, especially once you get further out into the post-Geno era.
