Geno presser - great story about Tamika Williams-Jeter

Couldn't quite hear the question - something along the lines of "best memory of Tamika Williams".

He said that he wasn't sure if he'd told the story before, had a story about her recruitment. Tamika was one of those players with a personality and energy like KK. She loves people and is very "vivacious (as they said back in those days)" (quote from Geno)... LOL

Anyway he said that back when they were recruiting her, it was a big thing for schools to send a plane to pick up kids and fly them in for their official visit. Teams would try to impress the recruits that way. So Geno sent Tamika a small model plane that she had to assemble and said "I'm sending you a plane to pick you up". He chuckled and finished the story by saying he was talking to Tamika's mom recently, and she said she still has the plane!!!

He also said that obviously he never got thru to her because she ended up going into coaching!

This story revealed Geno‘s comical side, as well as the type(s) of interaction he has with the recruits.

Repeat story about Tamika: Chris Dailey used to write letters to parents telling them how
their daughters were doing...maybe in late September of their frosh year. She wrote to
Tamika's parents that their daughter was adjusting to campus life great and mentioned her
outstanding personalilty and sparkle. She wrote that Tamika already knew everybody on
campus...except for one person...but...no worries...she was tracking that guy down while
CD was typing.

BTW: in her 4 years at UConn Tamika never/ever took a bad shot....maybe one reason her
field goal percentage was so/SO high.

Sometimes there's someone with a mic but often they're on the wrong side of the gaggle and/or the press forget to use the mic.
