Geno on the next coach for Paige

Obviously, this is before Fernandez was named the new coach for Dallas. I thought it was interesting.

With all due respect, the coaching decision was for the betterment of the team, not Paige specifically. Paige is a small but consequential part of the team , need one be reminded that there are 11 or so other players on the team.

You realize that Geno isn't the general manager of the Wings but instead Is a college coach just talking about his former player in response to a question, right?

That said, to paraphrase Charles E Wilson, 'What's good for Paige Bueckers is good for the Wings.'

Professional sports is different than college sports. GM’s and owners always need to be cognizant of what their stars want. I remember many years ago when legendary RB Jim Brown laid down an ultimatum to Cleveland Browns owner Art Model, who then fired HC Paul Brown, the only HC the Browns had ever had, and hired Blanton Collier.

Athletes like Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Aaron Judge and others are their respective franchise’s “bell cows,” and as such their views always need to be considered.

Paige is locked into the next 3 seasons in Dallas. Everything the Wings want to achieve long term starts with Paige. If the Wings expect to have Paige around once her rookie contract expires in 3 years, they need to bring her into the conversations now on coaching changes, draft choices, trades and free agent signings, or they will lose her once she hits free agency.
