Geno and Q

If Q is such a good coach as some posters have stated, you would think that the zone defense would be changed after their first timeout in the second quarter. UConn started to increase their lead by exploiting Cuse's zone. Then tore it up in the third where they scored almost all of their points in the paint.
True, but cuse stuck with wht got them there but Uconn has played against every defense you can name, it was only a matter of time b4 they cut tht zone to pieces, and man to man, Uconn wins by 50 at least, they suffered a slow death with their zone, it was a thg of beauty , at least for a Huskies fan.

Best all around talent was the 2001 team. They had the same players that won the 2002 NC, plus they had 2 first team all americans on the bench with season ending injuries. Svetlana Abrosimova and Shea Ralph. Best team to not win a NC, possibly best ever.
That was the year that Bill Gibbons, Holy Cross HC, said "we're going down to Storrs to play the best two teams in the country". IIRC, Waters' book, "The Same River Twice" is about the 2001 season.

In Q's presser a reporter asked him what SYR needed to do to get up with the elite and he snarked: We were in the finals 4 years ago. Acting like it was a dumb question. If he really thinks that I guess SYR is staying where they are.

True, let him wallow in mediocrity, should've granted Stevie a home state game, hard for me to look past tht.

I'm not a big Q fan, but I thought it was an asinine question. The obvious answer is "We need to get better players." Q at least had the tact to give answers along the lines of, "UConn is a really good team" and, "We just need to execute better", etc. He was sensitive enough not to give an answer that means, "Our players aren't good enough" right when his team is suffering the reality of their seasons/careers being over. He did say he has some good players coming in next year.

I thought he did a good job of not throwing his players under the bus like Holly or Coach P would have.

Cuse has some really good players, too bad the coaching staffs couldn't develop them to be at the best they can be.

Syracuse finished 4th in the ACC this year, and finished 3rd in the Big East in the last year there. He has made the tournament every year he has played in the ACC a conference that most BY posters would kill to get Uconn into. I would say with the players he has been able to recruit, he has gotten them as far as they could go, and further than expected. Does anyone on the current Syracuse team start at Uconn, probably no. Anyone be the first off the bench, probably no. Anyone expect Syracuse to get past Uconn or any other #1 seed or any #2 seed - no. So ... give it a rest. Cardoso is going to be a beast and along with Sykes is probably one of the best two recruits he has ever had and she is a freshman. If he gets a few more good recruits in the next couple of years we will see them again only in a later round.
