Ran across an article on Gene Pitney that he went to UConn as an EE major. Can anyone verify? If true, he would have been quite a celebrity on campus at that time.
He did, but he dropped out in '60. His musical career prior to dropping out of UConn was primarily as a writer, and he wasn't yet well known, much less the big-time recording artist he became in the '60s.
Met him a million years ago at WPOP when they were a an AM rock station. We talked for a few minutes mostly about the recording studio he was building in his home. Nice guy and excellent writer.
