Geez…We are 24-3, we played poorly and lost a game..relax

Get hold yourself son..it's only basketball..take the wife and kids to dinner or go to Disney and enjoy the good things in life that matter..family and friends
Good advice, except I have never found Disney relaxing... expensive and aggravating, yes... but not relaxing.

Let’s step up and support..give the players and coaches a little grace
The problems I identified happened in blowout wins too, just now we are playing a bigger price for those issues.

After that next day hangover I think I'm back on this train. It may not be next game, or St.Johns but by BE tourney time we'll be playing close to A game ball.
In Dog We Trust
Big East Tourney might be a little too late to turn it on. I don't see Cardiac Kemba on this team.

Most of our guys are not good defenders but why does it seem like every opposing player including backups can get to rim but we only have one
Well two. M. Smith can get to the rim and beat his defender off the dribble. Problem is he can't even make a open layup when close to the basket. LOL! I wish he would just penetrate and pass.

we also have to watch how we as fans react. We HAVE been in this exact same boat before in 23. It's relevant again because after that January skid our head coach thought he was about to get fired! Not win a natty. And i think the mood on the BY was worse.
bahahahaha comparing this year's big-east to 2023.

.-.
The team is simply not fast, athletic, or long enough to beat good teams defensively. We simply don't have shutdown defenders. That's the main issue.

Earlier in the year, the team was making their perimeter shots and passing well enough for the offense to hide the defensive flaws.

Now, teams are learning how to scheme against us and our offense is in a slump. I can't remember the last time Mullins had a great game. Solo and AK back to their 1 good game followed by 2 bad ones pattern. Danny never developed a strong bench.

Danny's coaching this year has been mid at best. His recruiting the past off-season has been the biggest problem. Not enough talent.

The fluidity and power just doesn’t pass the eye test.

We play great offense, but don’t make it easy on ourselves, plus we don’t have a consistent escape valve when things get stuck or late in the clock.

Our out of bounds plays and FTs (makes and attempts +-), well yeah.

Our defense has been a matador lately inside the 3 point line, especially our second unit.

All in all, there are significant holes that need to be shored up on this team. These are mishaps that you can’t overcome forever in March.

This team doesn’t need Kemba to win. It needs good defense and Silas and Mullins doing work with Tarris used effectively.

I’m liking this idea of Solo being a microwave for the bench. I hope he does. Ultimately kids like him are best suited for that, a quick offensive spark and jolt or energy.

I'm just saying we can't afford to lose the next 4 games and then just turn it around in the big east tourney. We need to have some wins before we hit the big east tourney snd against a quality opponent too.

This is the Basketball Capitol of the World...we only expect perfection.

I mean, did you read the NDSU football article talking about how they aren't packing the stadium anymore because "the fans have grown complacent with winning" and only attend rivalry, big, and play of games in droves.

I hate losing but I like the drama...let's get folks emotionally involved with a loss to match the team's emotional involvement and show up next game ready to burn down Nova at their place...and a 1 point win is a burn down in my opinion because a 1 point win is all it takes to win a National Championship.

It's hard to know if I'd rather face a 3 seed Nova or a 4 seed Hall in the Tourney. Guess we will find out tomorrow.

I'd LOVE to play a 6 seed DePaul though. Give me that matchup 99 times.

quick q from a football fan (ie. basketball ignorant) - are the problems, whatever y'all have determined them to be, fixable? or are we approaching the talent limits of UConn for this year?
That is truly the 64,000 question. Let's look at what the coach is saying. If its the talent why didn't he see that when recruiting. If its fixable who is responsible? The players? The problem appears to be players driving down the lane ("center" out on the perimeter or if not, too "handy"). We have no shot blocking in the paint to offset the drivers in the lane.

If its the players I don't know why the coach just continually just complains (admitting he is helpless). We shall see.

The High Hedge blew up and the coaches need to get over denial about it and move on to Bigs protecting interior and guards/swing the perimeter.

Disney is the Unhappiest Place On Earth...what normal adult would want to go to Disney!??? 😕

It worked with Clingan and Johnson but isn't something that Tarris can execute effectively.

It is more than just the center position, and Donovan was usual careful not to extent beyond the 3pt line. Castle, Newton and Spencer were all 6-5 or taller with strong and agile bodies - so they could defend multiple matchups in the high hedge. We no longer have the personnel to do that.

I think JC has it right, Reibe more PT. He has the length to block shots but foul trouble is an issue. We need both centers to play at peak.
