for those who have seen both, how do Karaban and Griffiths compare to Tyrese?
can they play tough underneath like TM? ball handling better/worse? thanks

They're both much better than Rese was in high school. But compared to his skillset NOW:

Rese is a much better athlete and defender than both. By far.

I think we can project them to be higher volume 3 point shooters at a good %. OBviously, Rese has developed into a good shooter, but they are both much better shooters than he was in hs.

Karaban probably has a comparable (ish) handle, Griffiths likely has a slightly better handle than Rese.

Griffiths is not tough underneath at all--relatively frail. I would expect that once Karaban adjusts we can expect some toughness underneath. He isn't as athletic though, so we might not see him getting the same reboudning #s as Rese.

Both are way better FT shooters than Rese.

Looks like pc might actually be making some headway with Bowen ( would be a huge get for them and the league if they can pull it off). Don’t know how likely it actually is with all the blue blood interest he has, but obviously makes it even more important to get Griffiths.

. My bad. Obviously he plays for Kingswood. Maybe subconsciously I was thinking that he usually is on fire when he is shooting 3 pointers

In fairness to you, I wouldn’t know the difference between kingswood-Oxford and kingsford-oxwood.

Bowen is best friends with Karaban and Griffiths... I'd find it hard to believe that he'd commit elsewhere if both Karaban and Griffiths are Huskies

One of several dream scenarios. Is Justin Edwards still in the mix, as well?

I knew a guy who called the school Kingsford-Oxwood. Was never sure if he was kidding or not.

Grain of salt-- FWIW--Pretty sure Griffiths went on a visit to PC with Bowen.

I’m not local but I’ve never actually done that, but wouldn’t surprise me if I did, even in the future. They both sound reasonable lol

Unclear because there's so many kids on that Brewster team we could be recruiting.
I'm with you.. Very quiet re: TBB.. Brewster and other places. Wild guess on my part but it seems like he's into Kentucky and Duke.. Just me.. We seem to be onto guys who have a game that is more refined.

Except the three of them are somewhat overlapping in terms of position and so gotta wonder about whether there's enough minutes to go around for all three.

I don't see the overlap, and they have all been on the court at the same time on occasion with Expressions, although mostly Bowen & Griffith played in their age group. Griffith sees himself as a shooting guard, which is zero overlap to Bowen or Karaban. Bowen is transition & speed, Karaban is efficiency, power, and creates plays with passing. The overlap with Bowen would be to Samson Johnson, but by 2023 Akok's spot should be open.

Keep in mind that Clingan is also friends with Bowen, not just Karaban and Griffiths. Obviously, Bowen is a friendly guy, but he has said that will not be as big a factor as people seem to think.

I hear you but I still think they are somewhat overlapping - at least Karaban and Griffiths being average athletic ability guys that like to shoot from distance or knife their way into the lane. I'm not saying they can't co-exist but I'm not convinced they're different enough roster construction-wise that it'd be a great mutual fit.

Interesting article but I am starting to see a recruiting trend emerging again. Long beanpole guys. This seems somewhat counter intuitive with the roughneck play (and ref cooperative) I am seeing in the Big East. If these guys lack the speed and athleticism of AJ and toughness of Tyrese to take it to the hole or rebound , I don't see how they fit well with a transition oriented offense and tough defense (shot blocking, rebounding). It would seem to be having one of these guys as a catch and shoot guy is enough, not a whole team of them.

It's hard to question Coach Hurley's recruiting strategy. I don't see the long beanpole guys you are talking about. Clingan, Karaban, CFjr certainly aren't. BTW most everyone is going to lack the speed and athleticism of AJ and while TM is on tough sob I think the 3 recruits I mentioned are not going to be intimidated. I just wish Griffiths would commit already.

Assuming they all commit to UConn, Hurley could make it work by playing smaller.

We mostly play with two big-men on the court at all times. It has yet to be seen if we play big because of Hurley's style or because that is what our personnel warrants.

It must be my very advanced age, in reading the above article it seems the Huskies barely received an honorable mention from TB. Does he have any measurable interest in UConn?

We seem to obviously be lacking behind. A Griffiths commitment might change that though.

I agree with this. It looks like if it's going to be the Big East, then PC leads. Although as you said Griffiths is the wildcard. I think Bowen would more easily switch to another school to play with somebody than Griffiths would. That is all gut though, I have no idea. It was a heck of a game and an atmosphere to get Bowen to experience though. He had a big smile in his face as the PC coaches and players were leaving the court. The Dunk was still packed and loud at that point.
