Any advantage is going to be with $$$ and building attendance/fan base.
Haven't seen the numbers yet for this year, but the XL Center had a big advantage last year:
" The school said Friday that fans have purchased over 6,300 season tickets for men’s games at the XL Center in Hartford, the most since the 2011-12 season. Season ticket purchases for Gampel Pavilion games is just over 3,600, the most since 2015-16."

When you consider that 33% from three produces the same amunt of points as 50% from two. It's not bad.

Our XL shooting numbers (33.8) would have put us at 185th in the country last year; Gampel (34.6) would have put us at 126th in the country.

Here are our numbers shooting the rock in Hurley's tenure

2021-2022: 99th (35.2%)
2020-2021: 184th (33.5%)
2019-2020: 227th (32.4%)
2018-2019: 176th (34.4)

I think it's fair to say that our staff has prioritized getting higher percentage shooters on the roster. Calcaterra, Alleyne, Hawkins and Karaban all fit that bill. I don't think we need to be Creighton or Gonzaga shooting the rock, but the difference between a team that can shoot 32% from deep and 36% from deep is BIG over the course of a season. If nothing else it means we're stretching and opening up the floor for our bigs and drivers.
