Remember the controversy last year about not enough fans attending games? A key item in the discussion was the price of tickets. Well, now, the cost of parking is a topic. It now costs more to park in Storrs than it does in downtown Hartford.
Parking across the street from the XL Center is $10, while parking at the South garage at Storrs has jumped from $8 to $12.
You can still park at the North garage; the cost there has increased from $8 to $9. If you do park there, it is a long walk to Gampel, or you can take the shuttle.

There are also $6, $5, and free choices for those that are able to walk.

Sure, but enjoy the walk on those nights when the wind chill is -20 deg.

It is not oppressive if one is dressed appropriately, far better than sitting in a garage for 60 minutes.

I am not defending it by any means. Just saying there will be nights when the elder clientele will not have the option or desire to walk long distances.

If one is adding up the cost of attending a game at Storrs, you need to add in the cost of travel. Takes me 1.5 hours from Fairfield county, round trip 3 hours, over a hundred miles, 6 gallons at $2.80/gal. Oh, you want to have a bite to eat, not cheap at the arena. Add in the ticket & parking, along with a terrible economy, not cheap is it? Adds up to more empty seats.

Where do you find gas at $2.80?
