Games Jan. 13-19

Apparently Indiana likes OT games. After their marathon game against Iowa over the weekend, they are playing another extra session against Northwestern.

Minnesota up 8 at halftime against Iowa. Seems pretty close to a must win game for the Gophers.
 
Did somebody make South Dakota mad? Crushing North Dakota St. 53-11 at halftime.

Indiana blew a 12-point lead with 7 minutes to play in regulation.
 
Rider and Marist are going to OT. Stella Johnson hit only 1 of 2 FTs with 5 seconds left and then Marist missed the potential game-winning layup.

Pitt is on the verge of its first ACC win at Clemson, up 4 now with 2:24 to play.

Second overtime loss in a row. Really got away from them. Led by double digits in 4Q and led by 5 in OT.

Minnesota surprisingly has an 11-point lead over Iowa playing without Pitts and both Bello sisters.

Rider finishes on a 7-0 run to win in overtime at Marist.

The nation's leading scorer, Stella Johnson, hit her average with 28 points, but her teammates did all the scoring in overtime. Lea Favre finished with 24 points, and point guard Amanda Mobley hit a clutch 3 in OT.
 
Iowa making a charge. Deficit down to 4 w/ about 3 minutes left.
 
74-73 Minnesota w/ 35 seconds left. Gophers were up by at least 11 at one point.
 
76-74 Iowa come back win.

Minny falls to 1-5 in conference.

edit--now ESPN is showing 76-75, but same outcome
 
Wake Forest wins tonight vs UVA. 4 conference wins already... tied for 4th in the conference. All the tobacco road teams win ACC games on the same day.... can't remember the last time that happened.

Gadiva Hubbard missed 1 of 2 FTs with less than a second left on the clock.

Devastating loss for Minnesota.
 
Missouri St. has been living dangerous. Needed a miracle to pull off a win against Drake last weekend. Trailing Southern Illinois by 5 w/ around 4 minutes left tonight. Speaking of Drake, they are killing Indiana St.

Fouling a 3 point shooter is always frustrating....but up 4 w/ less than 30 seconds left?

edit--SIU wins 70-68. Lot of action in the last 14 seconds.

Jasmine Franklin got a putback with 4 seconds left to tie the game, then the Salukis won the game on a layup with about 1 second left.
 
Big Day of Big South Basketball gets started in a bit. Games I have my eyes one are the Campbell vs Presbyterian and High Point vs Longwood Matchups.

FGCU is in a battle at North Alabama, tied 32-32 at halftime.

The Battle of South Dakota was moved to tomorrow due to expected inclement weather.
 
North Alabama had a 6-point lead in mid-3Q, but FGCU responded with a 12-0 run and remained in control from there. Keri Jewett-Giles really took over in 4Q, finished with 25 points. FGCU wins by 11 despite shooting only 4-18 from 3.

Also getting a stiff test was Central Michigan, who trailed Western Michigan 55-44 late in 3Q but then went on a 25-4 run to put the game away. Micaela Kelly finished with 31 points, and freshman Molly Davis had 19.

The Camels pull off a tougher than expected battle with the Blue Hose 53-47. My Panthers of HPU down Longwood 76-69 to improve to 4-3 in the Big South. The Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb down USC-Upstate 63-53. My Spartans of UNC-G down the Catamounts from WCU to remain undefeated in Southern Conference play 54-43. In A-10 Action.... My Wildcats of Davidson College remain in first place with a 62-55 over George Washington. Last but not least, My Aggies of NC A&T beat the stuffing out of Coppin State.... 84-38.

We won't discuss Charlotte or App State

South Dakota is jumping all over South Dakota St., up 37-22 approaching halftime.
 
UCF inspired by moral victory over UConn, looks to be beating South Fla. 62-57
 
Iowa was down 15 at halftime to Wisconsin, but came back to win 85-78.
