UConn women's basketball team (11-4, 6-0 BIG EAST) travels to DePaul (16-4, 8-1) today for an 8 p.m. ET tip in Chicago's Wintrust Arena. Wednesday's game is a reschedule of the teams' previously scheduled Dec. 31 meeting, which was canceled due to COVID. UConn was scheduled to play at South Carolina on Thursday, but the Gamecocks initiated a cancelation to reschedule an SEC game. UConn is 19-1 all-time vs. DePaul, including 19-0 under head coach Geno Auriemma.

DePaul has won four straight games, most recently a 94-74 win over Xavier on Sunday. This season, freshman Aneesah Morrow leads DePaul with 20.3 points and 12.5 rebounds per game. She has recorded 11 straight double-doubles. The Blue Demons lead the nation with 92.1 points per game. Head coach Doug Bruno is in his 36th season at DePaul. The Huskies have a tough challenge with Big East foe DePaul today. The Blue Demons are never an easy team to face, but surely UConn coach Geno Auriemma wishes he had a healthier backcourt heading into a game like this. The good news is that senior Christyn Williams will be able to give UConn some minutes. She has missed the previous three contests making her way back from COVID-19 protocols and her availability depends on how she feels. Fifteen minutes from Williams is better than zero, especially as Auriemma seeks to be smart about Nika Mühl’s minutes to exacerbate the foot injury that kept her out three games in December from worsening.

“I think DePaul is always a difficult assignment, no matter who we’ve had,” Auriemma said. “We’ve taken some undefeated, great teams there and had a hard time keeping them from doing what they want to do. They put so much pressure on you to have to score. They play a pace and a style that no one else in the country does. “Right now, we’re down a couple guards so we really can’t play the way we would like to play against them, which is to go up and down with them, like we have pretty much every year. But you really are going to have to control the tempo, you’re really going to have to be smart with the ball, pick your spots. And you can’t worry about what the score is.” DePaul (16-4) may not be ranked at the moment but is 8-1 in the Big East play thanks to freshman sensation Aneesah Morrow. The current frontrunner for conference player and freshman of the year. The 6-foot-1 post is averaging 20.3 points and 12.5 rebounds, and her 15 double-doubles are tied for the most in Division I.

Last time out for UConn: The Huskies beat St. John’s, 75-57, on Sunday in Queens, N.Y. • Senior Olivia Nelson-Ododa set career highs with 18 rebounds and 10 assists vs. the Red Storm. • Freshman Caroline Ducharme set a personal best with 28 points. • The Huskies scored 38 points in the paint. • UConn was without senior Christyn Williams, who was in COVID protocols, for the third straight game.

Last time out for DePaul: Morrow's 12th-Straight Double-Double Leads DePaul Past Xavier 94-74. Sonya Morris comes through with 27 points in Sunday's BIG EAST victory. A national TV audience on the CBS Sports Network watched Aneesah Morrow post her 12th-consecutive double-double with 32 points and 15 rebounds. CBS play-by-play announcer Chris Hassel shaking his head in admiration afterwards during Morrow's postgame TV interview with Kelly Burke.

Sonya Morris erupted for 27 points including 13 in the third quarter and added six rebounds. Kierra Collier kicked in 12 points while Darrione Rogers contributed 10 points and seven rebounds. Lexi Held orchestrated the show with eight points and eight assists.

As always, greatly appreciate the Game Day breakdown and Geno's comments regarding "Body Language" video. Saw this a few years ago and every pre-season, I show my incoming players this video. So important.

Just as it was with Dawn, Geno, and Doug Bruno to reschedule these games, kudos to SNY for adjusting their schedule and picking up the game so quickly. I'm sure getting the broadcast team and technical people to Chicago on such short notice was not easy. But thanks to their hard work, those of us who can't attend in person will get to see our favorite team play.
