1) No introduction video before the team came out. WTF is up with that?

2) DJ Jokey had his microphone taken away.

3) Field looks great.

4) Video board is nice. Ribbon boards will be appreciated.

5) Announcer is as bad as ever. Don't know the guys name, but never liked him.

6) The padding was removed from in front of the student section. They used to bang on it for kick offs. No more of that I guess.

The things I noticed:

The huge improvement in DJ Joey. No talk, current music. Sandstorm got squeezed out due to on field gimmicks. I know they are sponsored but, there are now too many.

The same tired PA tracks, but props for there being fewer.

Big improvement in the PA not stepping on the crowd/other goings on.

New video board, but having the clock/play clock on the video is distracting.

Need more replays

Band seemed off, didn't like the casual "uniforms"

The dance teams summer uniforms. Thats a lot of skin and spandex.

The band playing while DJ Joey is playing while the team enters still bugs me. But a lot of things bug me right now. All in all though a better fan experience last night IMO, except for the play of course

the team intro was out very early, but the did play it.

the timing of the non-game work was atrocious. Band running over plays, music running over plays, marketing over play... the gameday needs tuning too...

I'm not talking the player introductions. I'm talking "Fastest growing BCS team", "conference championship", "players in NFL" video. You know, the that pumps people up before the team came out.

There were so many ads it made the timeouts, etc. extremely boring and more depressing than the game was.. DJ Joey could barely even play a song, neither could the band... The PA guy sucks... he clearly looks down at his roster for the number and takes at least 5 seconds to figure out the name (Harder to see the numbers on the new jerseys)... Our lines are pathetic... The fans can't slap the mats anymore (That was the reason RGIII thought the rent was loud- obviously)... Starting to wonder if this program is now a laughing stock at the bottom of 1A like Duke was for years. I think the only thing I enjoyed about the game was the Smithwicks I had.

New videoboard is nice, although the number of timeouts remaining was not displayed on the new board. I also noticed more food options at the concession stands.

Actually, someone mentioned something in another thread in response to the OP asking why he should go back to the Rent for another game. He mentioned that the Rent would be a peaceful place to read a book or get work done on a portable device. This brings up another point that was thoroughly pissing me off during the game. I cannot for the life of me understand how Verizon Wireless cannot work in a stadium. Upgrade your damn network to be able to support the usage that occurs during game day. I don't know what AT&T users or Sprint users experienced, but I couldn't connect to M google.com, nevermind the BoneYard, during the game.

I couldn't even send or receive any texts. When I got back to my car after the game, 100 "WTF?!?!" texts showed up all at once.

.-.
Your mileage may vary, but I find switching off LTE (going 3G only) to be more reliable when the stadium fills up.

When the ribbon boards go up should solve this problem, right?

I have sprint and sucks too. Most stadiums are adding wi-fi to boost fan experience, so hopefully it's on the list of Rent upgrades.

--Husky Walk was very well attended for the opening game. Big oops: UCMB arrived after the team and raced to the stadium entrance to play rather than leading the team through the walk.

--Video board quality is amazing. Include timeouts in the onscreen data.

--Don't like all of the swirling graphics during the player intros; add the player's hometown to the onscreen text.

--Nice to have background music without Joey. Sandstorm between 3rd and 4th quarter last night--could have played a Michael Buble tune at that point.

--I have Verizon, didn't notice any problems with service. Followed the Texans/Cowboys game on ESPN, tweeted, sent photos, etc.

--Seemed to have more stuff at Fan Fest, but it's still lame.

--Band needs to watch the game and not play while offense is trying to "communicate"...they need all the help they can get.

--What's with the casual Thursday band look? Unis on backorder?

--The new helmet design isn't working--too much blank space, graphic on top of helmet isn't impactful. Ohter uniform changes are good. However based on yesterday's results, burn 'em.

Athletics forced the band to remove the C from the uniforms. Athletics handled the change, hence the bad timing. Will be ready for the next game.

I agree about the helmet change. Look OK on screen, and from the front, but terrible on-field and in the actual game. All the white looked amatur-ish and was sort of distracting. I kept having to remind myself that it was actually the HUSKIES on the field.

My buddy's cousin moved up to Rocky Hill from VA over the summer (V. Tech grad) and had this to say about the atmosphere:

"It's like the Rock Cats version of college football." Painfully accurate.

The stadium didn't look much more empty than PITT or Cincy last year but my lord Towson bringing 2 rows of fans and leaving that entire corner wide open looked god awful.

Also, I know they will be unrolling even more food options but A+ on $7 chili cheese dog and chips combo. In the real world that's horrible but in stadium food that's a decent deal.

Exactly. I would have spent about three paragraphs bitching about those damned helmets if we would have won. But we didn't, so I'll stop here...

@UConnDan97- Yes. I can't stand these helmets. As an Alternate, sure... but as your every game and school identity... Joke.
