I would say so, and winning all five is not beyond the realm of possibility. If Coach Dawn Staley can keep this team motivated to play tough defense early on (like yesterday), then I like our chances against ANY team in the country.

This is by no means a slight on Ashlyn because she is just an athletic specimen and moves with such effortless grace you forget she’s even there and working hard. The difference in Ash and Joyce is that Joyce is like a bull. She’s athletically gifted (All-State in VB, BB and soccer) but you know she’s on the court because she is aggressive. She’s going to the basket aggressively and she’s going after rebounds aggressively. She’s got a low center of gravity and is very strong for a freshman so she’s hard to move off her spot. She’s the one that will benefit the most from Ashlyn’s absence. I’ve no doubt she will be excellent and will get her in the conversation of the Freshman AA team because she’s on such a high profile team that everybody will be seeing over the next 3 weeks. Joyce probably has the highest ceiling of any player on this team and that’s saying a lot. That’s my stance and I’m sticking to it.

Only two dangerpoints in that gauntlet. Alabama, Okl & Tenn only have a chance to win if SCar plays a B game. And SCar mostly plays A games. In the past they have lost a couple of conference games they should have won and it has always been due to their own play. LSU could win by double digits or they could lose by 20+. They are the only team that has any chance of winning against an A game from SCar.

So yes, SCar will likely win 4 or all 5.

Has to be a B game for all 40 minutes. Last night, Carolina didn’t play well until the final 5 minutes. That was enough to turn a two possession game into an 18 point win. If the game had lasted another four or five minutes, would have been 30.
