Game Week: UConn vs. Houston (10/19/19 @ Noon on ESPNU)

Watched summary replay of Louisville vs. Wake Forest on youtube yesterday. There were play makers all over the field on both teams and not just 1st team players. In todays football need to be able to score. Sounds bad that UConn gives up in 40's for points but only because UConn's offense just isn't there. Wake Forest was a top 20 team and gave up 62 points but scored 59 themselves.
Need offense to open up. Try to score not try to shorten game. Why use only 2 running backs? Where is the deception? Throw over middle, is interception chance really that much worse than 3 and out?

I agree. Our offense makes our very poor defense look even worse than it really is. If we we had any kind of offense our record might not be any better but the games would be much more competitive.

Is it too melodramatic to link the state of the football program to Houston being 2-4 and 0-2 in conference and is a 22 point favorite on the road?

JZ will get better at the long pass. I'm more confident in that than I am playcalling with short and goal to go getting much better.

I'll even posit that if RE hadn't wasted a couple of weeks of JZ's development by starting Beaudry, UConn might've even won today.

After today, I'm back to going with 3-9.

That team played very well today. The defense was vastly improved. I thought Edsall may have lost these kids, but that does not appear to be the case.

I think play calling was sound.

they played good. I don’t think the play calling was sound on crucial plays. For instance after Mensah made a big play to get them in deep red zone they went with a smaller Thompson instead of feeding Mesah who not only made the big play but also is capable of Crushing it into the end zone... good two minutes drill however. Boys could play today but couldn’t execute in the red
