He's battening down the hatches, circling the wagons, going underground, it's an us against the world bunker mentality.

I see him obsessively rolling marbles in his hand while discussing his systematic search for the stolen strawberries on the Caine.

In a crater is more accurate but...

Temple's next foe, 3-6 UConn, is in a rut

Ed Daigneault@EdDaigneault 1 min ago
Diaco says he demoted Frank Verducci from OC nearly 14 minutes into presser

Jim Fuller@NHRJimFullerjust now
Change in #UConn coaching staff as offensive coordinator Frank Verducci has been demoted. RB coach David Corley now offensive coordinator

ThisIsUConnCountry@MattSchonvisky just now
"His suggestions have been spot on, some of better plays in games & suggestions in game have been spot on, has good feel there" - Diaco

ThisIsUConnCountry@MattSchonvisky 1 min ago
"It's an incredibly challenging circumstance that he is taking over. He's been a great worker & what he's been asked to lead have been.."

ThisIsUConnCountry@MattSchonvisky 1 min ago
"..high performing. His response to being asked was just as you would think it would be. 'What a great opportunity.'" - Diaco on Corley

Diaco - focused on creating things for QB position to improve #UConn

Gavin Keefe@GavinKeefe just now
Diaco doesn't expect any significant changes in the offense, adding that "we can do what we can do with our players."

Ed Daigneault@EdDaigneault just now
Offense will likely look quite the same Friday night. "David is not a magician."

Ian Bethune@Ian_Bethune just now
#UConn practice is closed today which means no player interviews. Totally understandable with changes to coaching staff

Diaco: "There's some line of scrimmage work... that didn't get done."

Ed Daigneault@EdDaigneault just now
Daico was, well, less than charitable in talking about the play calling. Honesty can be harsh.

ThisIsUConnCountry@MattSchonviskyjust now
"My main focus is on players, focus, culture & helping that piece (physical, skill, intellectual development). Lions share of rest of day..

ThisIsUConnCountry@MattSchonvisky 1 min ago
"..is spent on defense. I coach LB's on day-to-day basis. I then grade the offensive tape, meet w/offense early AM each next day to meet..

ThisIsUConnCountry@MattSchonvisky 1 min ago
"about vision & then we go to or normal day. I then regrade, give advice & help create big picture visionary thoughts & offense goes 2 work"

ThisIsUConnCountry@MattSchonvisky just now
On gameday: "offensive staff runs the game. They have spent lions share during the week and they go. Not any diff than when I was coord"

Neill Ostrout@NeillOstrout just now
Diaco meets with his offensive staff every morning. "It's a vision conversation."

Neill Ostrout@NeillOstrout 1 min ago
Diaco: "On game day the offensive staff runs the game."

Ed Daigneault@EdDaigneault 1 min ago
Diaco says he is mostly hands off with the offense, which we all probably surmised but now have evidence of.

Good lord, he said nothing that gives me any confidence going forward....just more of the same old, tired prattle.

Yeah....your vehicle can bounce out of a rut, but those craters can be large and deep.

Diaco shakes up offensive coaching staff; demotes Verducci, elevates Corley

Oh man, he says the team improved last weekend.....one of those areas of improvement was defense....proving once and for all he doesn't really understand what he is watching.

Read the text of the quotes in the Mike Anthony article - he's not wrong based on what metrics he was focusing on/commenting on, it's just not what the fans are focusing on - which is the final score. He acknowledged that. N.O. left all that out of his story.

That may be so, but come on....he is really reaching. Anyone who watched that game saw a team that has regressed and not improved. This is much more then taking lemons and making lemonade....this is taking dog poop and trying to spin gold out of it.

Not arguing the poor optics/tone deaf comment - just that they appear to be viewed through different lenses. It's the bigger problem of folks distilling things to 140 characters w/ no context/depth. Too late once the train starts rolling down the track. Someone said it in another thread - he doesn't think how what he says is digested by the fan base.

Agreed. We live in a Twitter kind of world and most of the time 140 characters just isn't enough.
