Our defense is not dependable enough to hold a lead... that's the bottom line (until they prove otherwise)... IF we can get over those "yippsee" type plays (the BIG plays... happened at Syracuse, happened at Delaware, happened last weekend)... we can pull it out... Focus/Disciplne on that side of the ball needs to be better in key moments...
The Offense just has to perform to their level that they are capable of and not rely on the defense at all. That will be the key to winning for 3 of the 4 final games.

Well said by Dom Amore, especially about the media having heaped great praise on Mora for being 23-23 against a Group of Whatever schedule.

If he was doing what the second year coach at Indiana has done to date, even taking into consideration our much weaker schedule, and was "disrespected" by our media, then maybe he'd have reason to complain but not where we are right now.

As some here have pointed out, our media doesn't ask tough questions of Mora. So, maybe it's just frustration at a third OT loss in eight games or maybe he's feeling his career trajectory is rearing it's ugly head. (check Wikipedia)
The week prior we had to hear a dissertation about our team looking like a P4 team.

Well that's great. Team was outcoached badly by Rice, and he gave the local media a 2 1/2 minute press conference. I guess if the coach is too pissed off to talk he doesn't owe any explanations to anyone.
Coaches don't make any plays. They don't block, tackle, run, catch, or throw.

-> Parham leads the Huskies with 76 total tackles on the season, good for 15th among all FBS players nationally, and ranks fifth in the nation with 8.5 sacks, in addition to his three fumble recoveries. Prior to this year, the former San Jose State Spartan and Washington Husky never had more than three sacks in a season.

“This is what I expected and I still expect more from myself,” he said Tuesday. “I’ve left a lot of plays out there and I just want to continue to get better so I can make those plays. I just want to keep being a master of the basics. I like saying that a lot, but that’s what football is… I’ve been playing for a long time so I kind of know what’s going on but just doing the things that are going to continue to help me get to the next level, that’s what I want to be. Just a master of the basics.” <-

-> “Job’s not done yet,” Parham said. “It ain’t over until after our bowl game and we’re chilling in January or December, whenever our bowl game is. I just always say you’ve got to keep going, we ain’t done nothing yet. We ain’t got no bowl game, season ain’t over so we’ve got to finish the job.” <-

-> Coach (Jim Mora) has been telling us, ‘They only remember what you do in November,’ so we’re trying to keep getting better every day.” <-

With all the focus on that presser, what is NOT being discussed is that UAB knocked off #25 Memphis two weeks ago and are getting key players back from injury. This will be a big challenge for the Huskies. We all are thinking yeah, could be another day like Rice. Uhhhhh ... no, could be quite a bit bigger.
Yup. This game scares me. These guys can obviously can get on a roll and have a potent offensive passing potential. Not interested in 5 game sacks that come along with a couple of soul sucking long yardage TDs caused by D breakdowns. This season is such as GD tragedy of “if only”(s). Such is the life of a UConn football fan.

Well, UConn is at home. The weather will be colder than they are used to. UConn certainly has the ability to win. Depends on which UConn shows up.

So Dom is upset he has to scramble to the press room when he’s actually at a game, and upset he wasn’t given enough notice for when the press conference was starting so he could log onto Zoom from 1600 miles away?

Kick rocks. Write something about the game you just watched. You don’t need Mora’s synopsis to give you pointers on what to write.

We have always had the absolute worst media. Half arsed, never asked tough questions. They would get flummoxed by Pasqualoni. It's not just football.

I learned today via the article on Byrun Parham that Tyquan King was injured in the FIU game and has missed the last 2. Was wondering where he was. This may explain some of our inability to stop the run. On Rice's big run TD, Mills missed a tackle that would have kept it a 4 yard gain. On the long Rice TD catch and run Pringle got beat watching the backfield and then wiffed on the tackle. Those plays are on the players. I am hoping they all step up and stop with the poor efforts at tackling. Our D-line stunts a lot and it gets them out of position to hold their gaps. They are caught on the move and backs go where they were, as the O-line shoves them out of the way. Rice took full advantage late in the game. Just play your gaps and send a LB on occasion to disrupt the offense. We don't seem quick enough on the D-line to stunt and get pressure. Stopping the run game has to be job one on Saturday.

I read Dom's column. I was a little disappointed at this airing of dirty laundry. Hopefully he tried to reach out directly to Mora, Benedict, etc., to hash this out in private before putting out that column. If he did and got nowhere, fine, but some of what he wrote I have to question....

He mentions over-hyping some of our victories even though they're against lesser competition... So, you are writing columns saying things that you don't truly believe in, or are unimpressed by and yet you're still writing how great they are. If that's the case, I am not sure I can trust anything you write now.

His last line, in my opinion, crosses the line into just being a low blow comment: "Maybe he can make another two minute statement on Saturday and hold on to a lead."

Curious to hear anyone's opinion.

His comments about playing lower competition echo the sentiments that we constantly hear in the national narrative. The problem is, he should know better than the random youtube yokels that the team's hands are tied in that regard because of independency and having to try and jigsaw a schedule together every year around other conferences required conference schedules. Also, in trying to take a jab at Mora, what he really did was fire on a bunch of kids that are doing the best they can every week. People like Mel Brown who had surgery because of an injury "against inferior competition" or Cam who comes to the sidelines after every series to get his shoulder worked on so he can go back out on the next series just to come off wincing in pain again.

Don’t get our section’s hopes up that we’ll actually see you in 241.

I saw him play against Rice, but I think it was on special teams. UConn lists that he played in the last 2 games, but he had no stats. Maybe he is banged up and is only playing on special teams?

I see Circa has UConn favored by 11. I guess the thinking is that UAB had the one week interim coach bump and will return back to earth. Plus…UConn appears to be much better at home.

Line seems high to me.

and the other teams quarterback was also injured and replaced by a freshman during their week one bump.

Yeah I’m skeptical of that line. If we manage to win by 10+ I’d be very happy
