Still no explanation of why the decision to go for 1 instead of 2?

How I think Mora would have answered if he was asked to answer this question today.

“because I thought we would win by going for 1”

Not saying I agree…but he wasn’t exactly into philosphising about strategy today.

The thing that upset me was Mora's answer for why they weren't running the ball more or something to that affect (I wish they would mic up the people asking questions). Sure you're passing more because you having success but don't you want to run the ball more to help balance the offense to take the pressure off of the QB at times, keep the defense guessing, and at times run the clock more. Also I don't get why they don't like to use the other running backs other than Edwards. On the "Husky Huddle", I think if I remember right someone suggested that maybe Edwards is banged up more than the team is letting on and because their run scheme is tough, Edwards is the only person that is capable of running it. I had a tough day at work so maybe my memory isn't exactly 100% lol!

He discussed it on Part 3 of his Coach's show. He thought about it. He thought they could stop them on defense and score again. He didn't want it to come down to 1 play. He would make the same decision again but hope for a different result.

Brinson had some tackles on Saturday where I was like that’s a good tackle for an NFL player. Some of those open field sticks were truly impressive..

For me, the whole season is on the line over the next three games because we’re going to figure out what kind of team we are. Are we gonna just fold up and start playing down to competition and blow some more games? Or are we going to make this season something special?

We’re going to find out so much on Saturday.

Weird thing is OT always comes down to one final play.

Lost in the debacle Saturday, Brinson did have a great game and is having an outstanding season.

This is going to be a tough game.

They like to pass a bunch so our ability to sack the QB will be important. But also the defense likes to give away First Downs on Third and Long like candy on Halloween. This won’t be a stress free game like FIU was.

Good for him as he has been a bright spot on a dreadful defense, but I would have never suspected that he'd lead the country having watched the way the Da sa whole has played all year. That is not saying much about the rest of the secondary, however I do think Cam Chadwick has played consistently well most of the year, and the freshman Osiris Gilbert has shown potential, which is good because we have a lot of seniors in our secondary. That's an area we can definitely use an influx from the portal next year.

The reason why Mora acted like he did in the press conference is because he was sticking it to the media for only asking ONE question during Rice post game presser.

This UAB game is looming large and the Rice game could prove to be THE pivotal moment of the season. Any given Saturday and anything can happen. Remember last year 8-5 Northern Illinois (currently in the bottom 25) beat 14-2 ND. If UConn beat Rice, we'd be 6-2 and believing we have a chance to run the table. Now at 5-3, they gotta beat UAB or even a bowl game is in jeopardy.

“We all take the bad with the good. If the coach felt he needed to make some sort of statement Tuesday, give reporters a two-minute warning, so be it. Maybe he can make another two-minute statement on Saturday and hold on to a lead.”

One thing that the UConn football program does not need right now is a beef with local media.
If you took this presser that way then I think you don't really understand what this program's goals are. Coach should be PO'd...and the guys that interview him week in and week out should know what UConn football's goals are. Heck, the media should be a little perturbed. We should NOT have lost last weekend...but, disappointingly, we did.
Let him get back in the lab with the players and watch us cook on Saturday. After that, then come with that same energy you put out in your comment above.. We don't/shouldn't have time for hurt feelings over a loss that should've been a win (and the team's/HC is rightfully upset about it... I'd be worried if he came out all nonchalant).

I'm amazed that having seen Rice run it down our throats in the first OT Mora would believe we could stop them in the second OT. Offense is our strong suit, gotta gopher2 in that situation, IMO.

Personally I think he is entitled to a pass or two considering his body of work here, one where he himself would certainly insist is not finished.
Not going to dwell too much on it cause we have bigger fish to fry, or namely Blazers, but this is like 3rd or 4th time he reacts this way after a loss.

Well said by Dom Amore, especially about the media having heaped great praise on Mora for being 23-23 against a Group of Whatever schedule.

If he was doing what the second year coach at Indiana has done to date, even taking into consideration our much weaker schedule, and was "disrespected" by our media, then maybe he'd have reason to complain but not where we are right now.

As some here have pointed out, our media doesn't ask tough questions of Mora. So, maybe it's just frustration at a third OT loss in eight games or maybe he's feeling his career trajectory is rearing it's ugly head. (check Wikipedia)

With all the focus on that presser, what is NOT being discussed is that UAB knocked off #25 Memphis two weeks ago and are getting key players back from injury. This will be a big challenge for the Huskies. We all are thinking yeah, could be another day like Rice. Uhhhhh ... no, could be quite a bit bigger.

What modern journalism has become. Amore writing an article about two events he hasn't covered.
Journalists should learn readers don't care about journalists reporting on journalism.

I watched the second half of the 3rd Q and all of the 4th for UAB vs Memphis. If our offense does the 3 and out clinic we can do so well we will lose. Duke will be our toughest remaining opponent, but Air Force will give our D fits. Sammis and the offense have to up their game. We have the talent so no excuses.

Definitely. And this is arguably the “easiest” game left. I hope the frustration from coaches and players after the Rice loss fuels a strong performance

Our defense is not dependable enough to hold a lead... that's the bottom line (until they prove otherwise)... IF we can get over those "yippsee" type plays (the BIG plays... happened at Syracuse, happened at Delaware, happened last weekend)... we can pull it out... Focus/Disciplne on that side of the ball needs to be better in key moments...
