Our inside O-line has plenty of experience. How will the tackles perform? The big question for the opener is the defense with 9 new starters. We had loads of D-line experience and depth last year. This is the group that we need to see if they can dominate.

FWIW, I put this (pertinent) stat chart together, for D experience purposes, especially with all the portal adds. With their most recent major PT years. (2024 stats except where noted)

I wonder what the game plan looks like for Saturday. If we anticipate being dominant on the O-line, does that mean we'll see a HCRE1 style, run between the tackles offense?

Do they:
  • go with providing no tape before required; or,
  • get in the maximum starter snaps and experience with the playbook for a defense that for the most part has never played together in a real game situation?

yeesh.. just give students free parking. Why are we charing kids to park? Doesn't their tuition already go towards subsidizing the athletic department?

Our RBs are good receivers, especially Edwards and Brown. With Fagnano back I see us being able to use the passing game to help out the run game. But obviously we need to be able be balanced on offense and get our backs going. Fagnano is not a running type QB so Gordon will have a plan to get things moving. And he is not afraid to pass to the TEs off playaction.

I expect a fairly vanilla game plan on offense. The coaches know what the offense can do.

On defense the coaches are still learning about the guys. I think we will use a lot of players as the coaches continue to figure out who can do what. They will want to see if we can generate a pass rush with four and who steps up with the lights on.
