Can’t listen now. Anything about Mel Brown not getting touches in there? How about the use of prevent defense and Cuse destroying it.

No it won't.

It's going to be a run of the mill win against a low level FBS team.

Silliness and overconfidence. This is a trap game. First FBS home game, they have a legit fanbase and good attendance. The Hens will be pumped up. We better bring the A+ game.

They are a sound football team. We struggled against unsound teams like Temple and UAB last season.

Unrelated to saturday's game, but -

I would not be surprised if Delaware performed well in these early years, enough to get an invite to either the American or Sun Belt, pretty quickly. While still a G5 team as their ceiling, their overall university brand is respected (well regarded northeast/mid-atlantic flagship school with large and wealthy alumni base in the region) and they have a good football history (princeton/michigan helmets?! so cool).

An invite to either of those, is a step forward for them, but also it is an asset to the conference that lands them.
honestly though, they're a patriot league school totally, if not for their football ambitions.

Delaware is not a Patriot League School. They came from the CAA/A10. Their Athletics budget is impressive already by G6 standards.

Honestly, I would be more worried about this game if UConn won last week. It would have been a trap game if they beat Cuse. They would have been coming off celebrating a big win on the road and wouldn’t Take Delaware serious. After a crushing loss, it will be easy for the coaches to get the players attention this week.

I would be too, but this isn’t a UMass or UAB type team. Dismissing them as a low G6 team isn’t wise because we almost lost to a couple of those last year. Good lord the Temple game was miraculous and they didn’t even start their best QB.

iti's not a point worth arguing so i will just say this and then let it lie:

my point was their profile aligns to what the patriot league is becoming, which IS the CAA, or at least the top notch of the legacy CAA, brand-wise. Elite FCS northeastern & mid-atlantic schools. Had it not been for their FBS transition, I certainly believe they would have made the jump with villanova, Richmond, W&M and so on. Those are the schools they have history witih and who they want to be associated with... not campbell and Hampton.

I agree with you about last year's team. It's a new year and a new team. What fan's say and even coach speak prior to the game is useless. This is one of the tougher games on our schedule based on the Delaware's first G5 home game and still an early season game before injuries deplete them.

-> “We’ve had about 64 hours, we’ve had four meetings, a walkthrough and a practice to learn the lessons in a really tough loss on Saturday and now we’re in the process of applying those lessons and moving forward,” coach Jim Mora said on Tuesday. “We’ve got good players and they take it very seriously. From what I’ve seen, it was a very difficult loss and it lingered and then they flushed it. They didn’t flush it without learning the lessons and then working to apply them, because that’s the only way you can get better.” <-

If anyone want to do some scouting, FS2 is replaying the Delaware @ Colorado game right now (8pm 9/9)

The mystery of Mel Brown's fourth quarter disappearance last Saturday may be solved today when we see the Delaware game two deep. Or maybe not (in the case that he is listed).

They have a 17k seat stadium. How good could attendance be? 15k Delaware fans at the game? You'd lambast our fanbase if we had 15k attend a home football game.

Yes, at their former level their fanbase was legit but now that they've stepped up a level it's nothing to brag about. If we can't handle the noise their fans bring we're nowhere near being able to compete at even the lowest level in FBS.

Yes, they should be able to offer far more resistance than Central and yes, we absolutely should not overlook them but their fan base won't alter the outcome, that will be entirely due to how well our team plays.

I expect both their team and fans to have an extra energy as they’re looking for their first FBS win, especially it being us, a regional opponent. I think we’re up for the task to match their intensity, but it won’t be easy

-> UConn’s passing offense ranks 14th in the FBS (331 yards per game) and its ground game is 44th with 196 yards per game

…Skyler Bell ranks as the sixth-most productive pass-catcher with 120 receiving yards per game and lead back Cam Edwards ranks 29th in the nation with his 95 rushing yards per game. <-

-> UConn made two stops on 4th-and-short in the first half on Saturday and ranks No. 16 in fourth-down-conversion defense. The Huskies have also allowed 10 conversions in 31 third down attempts, which ranks No. 60 nationally, and sit at No. 50 in red zone defense after allowing seven scores in nine attempts.

“We’ve got to capitalize on all our opportunities,” said defensive back Tyrece Mills, a Penn State transfer who forced a fumble with a strip sack on Syracuse QB Steve Angeli. “We dropped interceptions last game, so basically we just come into this game trying to stay focused and finish so we can come out with a ‘W’ next time.” <-
