read the article.
Damn - this loss is definitely their "holy cross 2021" moment - I reference that moment often as the bottom of UConn's existence, in my short time as a fan.

in retrospect, so glad we lost that game. had we gone 4-8 or something under edsall, he may still be here now, handing us 4-8 seasons till the cows come home while whining about NIL challenges... and Jim Mora would reviving UMass.

His LBTTS comment p!ss3d me off, so I posted a comment back. Maybe it'll show, but if not this is what I wrote:

I can't stand that pompous no talent @$$clown, and that he writes for a newspaper in New London is double damning.

Wow the student writer for the BC paper seems really Butt hurt with the loss. He probably
headed over to Mary Ann's (If it still exists) to drown his tears.

Unfortunately, Mary Ann's is gone.

That guy is the biggest hack ever and should never be confused with real journalism. And he's wrongly mischaracterized yet another thing: BC is UConn's little brother to the north. Since the late 80's, BC feared UConn dwarfing them in sports and it's now reality. Suck on that Chestnut Hill Community College!!!

How come all these BC fans are acting like this is some huge fall from grace? When did you ever have this grace? Surely they can't be talking about the 80s, nearly 50 years ago... Can any BC fan even name a player besides Flutie?

I was under the impression that UConn (the pre-Mora years), UMass, and BC were bad and New England was a FBS outlier. I don't remember it being just UConn and UMass

He's always just come off as a miserable bcu fan living in Connecticut having to write for a local new london rag which hardly anyone reads. I mean, how much worse can it possibly get for a bcu fan. it can't. even his twitter post has hardly any reaction. knocking UConn and getting verbally assaulted online is about all he has. gotta give him credit, he's a glutton. bcu and pc can argue about who's little and littler, but thankfully UConn and bcu are unrelated.

LMAO. Would someone please take pity on the asshat and call him a whaaaambulance.

Yeah, he's a first class shidiot.

My post on his article ended up staying, but then some jabroni responded with a "2-13". I felt I had to educate him and cite the FBS record is 2-7, but since DiMauro mentioned athletics, I merely pointed out that we owned BCU in basketball and win the head-to-head in NCAA team championships 25-6.

Oh I saw, I just find it hilarious to see him freaking out. And yeah, maybe take UMass with them to the Patriot League.

Largely disagree, but it is tough to disagree with how he ended his column:

Because you know what BC is right now in college sports? A parasite, feeding off everybody else’s money.

Pathetic

FWIW Sagarin has UMass sixth in the Patriot right now, just behind Colgate and just ahead of Georgetown.

Do explain what you disagree with - he is a hack, UConn is clearly not BC's little brother, and BC has feared UConn for decades (someone my family knew who was a very active UConn insider/donor told us in the 80's that BC feared what UConn could become because he heard it directly from his monied counterparts at BC). Take a look at BC's track record over the past decade or two and UConn's over the same span and lo and behold, BC was correct with their worries.

I disagree with his position that we are the "little brother" to BCU. It's quite the opposite, actually in all sports except hockey, for which we've caught up.

DiMauro should be barred from anything UConn football....his bias against UConn (especially when it comes to anything BCU) and his obvious disdain for our program should get him the boot. It's not just the "Little brother to the south" BS but this use of "UConn" twice in a row to show his disgust with us...

"Now we’ve endured an 0-fer ACC football season (2015), an O-fer ACC men’s basketball season (2015-16) and now the ignominy of being 1-6 in football and getting your ascots kicked by UConn. UConn!"

He should be banned by the Athletic Department and canned by The Day. The Day!

This is DiMauro's way of getting readership. He has to take a controversial view to get these responses. Well done by DiMauro for recognizing that. If he did have his shtick, he would have had a new job a long time ago.

our horrendous 2010 decade, up to 2021, is still a cloud hanging over us, and honestly it probably will always be the "ace in the hole" used by our haters over and over, until we join a P4 conference. A lot of college football is marketing and perception (or perhaps, propaganda), so those who hate us will do whatever they can to drive our brand value DOWNNNNN.
UConn has no one to blame but themselves - we gave them that ammo.

not saying I like it.. it's just what it is.

This BC "hack" isn't alone in using our bad 2010 decade, against us. it's the last card they have left to play, in feeling better about themselves. Everyone we play is doing it, honestly - even some of the G6 schools we've played in the JM era, have spoken pretty condescendingly about us, on their boards.

I agree with all of that, but the dbags on those boards aren't "journalists" that cover UConn sports from a little crappy newspaper in Connecticut.

BC’s logic for blocking us from the ACC was that they wanted to be New England’s premier school. They were clearly worried about being overshadowed by us but the issue is that based on how things have turned for both programs on a national scale, that was going to happen regardless. Delaying the inevitable.

The fact is that blocking UConn ironically hurt BC more than anyone else: instead of building a potential regional rivalry to keep fans engaged, they further isolated themselves in a time they were already diminishing as a brand. There is no practical benefit to being New England’s only team

Dimauro annoys me when he refers to us as LBTTS. Little Brother to the South. We are much more successful at Athletics than they are.
