Why I picked who I did:

Guard Play: One true ball handler and floor general (Khalid) and a great scoring, dishing defensive minded two guard who can also play on the ball well (in Boat). Both can dish well, Khalid from the perimeter and Boat with the drive and dish. And don’t forget defense. A team leader to along with lock down on ball defense – solid backcourt.

Bigs – Rebounds, rebounds, rebounds and finishing around the rim. Yes I realize in this game we would be confronted with intimidating opposition especially with Thabeet around the rim. And as big of an athletic freak Sticks was, Caron has the edge on him. Hilton always held his own down low and with Donny to muscle in there as well we have a lot of balanced strength without over crowding at any position.

Why I win:

Leadership and Defense: Khalid > Marcus as a floor general, Boat and Ricky (2014 and 1999) are a toss up, I give boat the edge in this scenario because of his back court mate and his ability to drive into the lane and either dishing it out to Caron on the wing or the big men if Thabeet comes out to defend, and if not a floater or step back jumper.

Depth:

I do like my opponents front court – it is intimidating. But as soon as Thatbeet and Cliff start to sniff any sort of foul trouble, and Pat has to come out for your 3 guard line up this game becomes a blow out.

And as much as I would love to ramble on more – I have to get to work. Vote wisely my friends.

I'm going with NYC_Husky here.

I like that both of these teams have a PG who can score and assist, and a SG/PG who can defend (since their primary gaurds can't). I like Ricky's defense over Boat's, but not by a ton. I like Boat's offense over Ricky's, by a good margin. As for the Marcus vs. KEA, Marcus was the better passer, but I'm going with KEA every day. Just a better leader.

Hasheem and Cliffy down low is a fearsome twosome. That's a good offensive and defensive pairing, and I think much better than the Donny Marshall-Hilton Armstrong pairing. Donny will make it tough for Cliffy because he can score and is an athlete, but I think Thabeet devours Hilton. As for Butler vs. Stanley, I think they both bring great things, but Butler wins in a landslide. And on the bench, I like Denham better than both Fair and Austrie (although I think both are solid pickups), but the Linehan pick just kills him. I guess Cliff could play some center if Hasheem got in foul trouble, and you could throw a lineup out there of Williams-Moore-Denham-Stanley-Thabeet that would be pretty formidable, it would be difficult to do much else, since Lenehan totally eliminates any further flexibility.

NYC

KEA>MW
Boat>Ricky
Caron>Sticks

Donny<Cliffy
Hilton<Thabeet

Advantage at the 1,2,3 greater than deficit at 4,5. But, two well balanced teams. I think it comes down to KEA shooting and Caron scoring vs. Cliffy

Cliffy & Hasheem might get in each other's way on offense. Cliffy had an outside game but also got a lot of buckets inside and driving to hoop. Neither was much of a passer. So I can see the smaller frontline of Caron-Donny-Hilton working together a little more and frustrating Cliff & Thabeet. Too many headcases on one team with MWill, Cliffy, Thabeet and Stanley - none of those guys won big games, Ricky might get them all playing D for awhile, but when the offense bogs down they could mope.

With all due respect to Pat Lenehan, who I have a ton of respect for, that selection hurts UC23Leahy's chances big time. Given these teams are already running thin benches, you really can't afford to waste one of those reserve picks on somebody who can't see the floor. Worse yet, UC23Leahy really has no emergency plan if Hasheem gets in foul trouble.

The starting lineups are relatively evenly matched, but too much of the scoring burden falls on Cliff for UC23Leahy's team with Sticks, Ricky, and Hash being limited offensive players. And, if Boatright can cut the head off the snake in Williams - which he was able to do in the tournament consistently against admittedly inferior guards - that really puts the team at a deficit. Conversely, Ricky is able to negate one of either Boatright or El-Amin, but then the other is free to wreck havoc on Williams' sub-par perimeter defense.

Okay Okay
Marcus WIlliams: I chose him because he was the best passing, pure point guard we have ever had at Uconn. He was a wizard at running the offense and made all his teammates better. Most of my players can't create for themselves, but I think with Marcus running point they will find good looks.

Ricky Moore: The greatest on ball defender we have ever had. He has that "it" factor on defense. If you need to lock an opponent down, he is the one to do it. He has the potential to have some offensive games, but I picked him for his value on the defensive side.

Stanley Robinson: Sticks is a physical freak. Big, strong, and can jump out of the gym. I love the energy he provides his teammates and the fans in every game. At his peak, when he was aggressive and had his jump shot going, he had the ability to be a nightmare. He could bang down low or hang on the perimeter. He was really, really good in those games where he was "on"

Cliff Robinson: Here is a majority of my offense. He could score in a variety of ways on offense (averaged 20 points a game). He could stretch the floor, score in the low post, high post, tip-ins, put backs, etc. He was also 6-10 and a solid rebounder and defensive, versatile player.

Hasheem Thabeet: Arguably the most dominant big man (defensively) here at UConn. Unteachable length, quickness, and athleticism made him a nightmare. No one will be able to drive in uncontested on him.

Denham Brown: Instant offense. Clutch. He scored 111 points in a high school game. Did any of your players score this many in a game? Didn't think so. He could shoot the lights out and provides a whole different dynamic than Stanley Robinson and Ricky Moore off the bench.

Pat Lenehan: Arguably the smartest basketball player ever for us. Besides, I figured I would blow away all my competitors, and just have Pat come in and hit a three to rub it in.;)

Verdict: Your front court is sufficient on the boards, but will be outmatched by the combination of Hasheem, Cliffy, and Sticks. Ricky Moore will do all but eliminate Khalid from the game, forcing Boat to be ball dominant. Marcus may not be able to stay with Boat, but he will force him into the middle where Ryan has had the tendency to get blocked often. Caron and Donyell are very good scorers, but I think we will be able to contain them enough.
If my team gets into foul trouble, Stanley will move to the four and Denham will play the 3. This is not necessarily a negative event, however, since Stanley will have a distinct speed/quickness advantage and we'll still have a shot blocking presence. Finally, our offense will be much more dynamic with Denham, Cliffy, and Marcus all in the game.
My team will dominate the paint rebounding wise and defensively. It will be an ugly game, but the versatility of my team on offense and defense will be enough to outlast your team.

In the voting it appears I have already lost but whatever!:D
