Ok I'll watch the rest later on DVD, off to Boston for the day. Seeing my oldest's new apt.

Little Laila sleeping in grandma's arms - dad is there but busy texting. Swin and Ashja now in. 1 min plus left.

Lindsay now running the point - Swin, Ashja, Seimone, Angel. 3rd Q almost over. 66-28.

68-31 at end of 3Q - the announcers are deep into blather mode - oh yeah - there's still a game going on - blah, blah, blah.

.-.
4th Q - long 3 for Smith from Canada - because US in zone - Whelan, Cash, Seimone, Fowles, Jones in.

Interview w/Candace's husband - talking about needing to get Laila ready to go out - funny to hear NBA player talking about getting a 3-year-old to the potty.

79-40 US, 6 min to go. US working on running their offense, regardless of the opponent. Fowles working under the basket, looking good.

Beautiful Maya play at 5:20 left - pass from Lindsay on the break, Maya catches it and shoots while in midair - awesome!!

.-.
Another awesome Maya play w/3 min left - she cuts to the basket, gets a pass from the key and hits the layup while offbalance and in the air.

Will move to a bigger venue for the last games - 20,000 capacity - they equate it to Staples Center. 91-48 w/ 30 sec left.

15 steals in the game, limited Canada to 31% shooting. 5 players for US in double figures, 2 others w/ 9 - Ashja only one not to score. Final score 91-48.

Thanks for the thread.

Just got back from lunch after the Triathlon.

I won't leak the results, but the Hyde Park crowd was very loud.

Misty and Kerry in 2-1/2 hours.

Off to get some work done - hope the game on Thursday is at a better time for everyone!

.-.
Dee with 15, Parker and Fowles with 12, Angel and Maya with 11.

Thanks so much for the thread! You guys are my life line, and it is so appreciated!!!

That was a lot of fun. Canada played everyone else very tough - only lost to Australia by 4 I think. They were getting trounced by AUS in the first quarter and just kept plugging away. I think the drop off is between #1 and #2. Everyone else in this tournament has looked pretty ordinary including both AUS and RUS. I would not be surprised by any results in the other quarter finals.
I do think Geno is a great coach for this team like Mike is for the men. Able to blend egos and talents, define roles, and allow freedom, but demand commitment on the defensive end.
Even with the missed shots, the defense on this team is so stiffling that it really doesn't matter. And someone will get hot, and everyone else will feed off that.

Thanks so much for this ... I just got out of a meeting and read through where I left off this morning and I have a real feel for the game. I appreciate people taking the time to help out those of us stuck doing other things.
Gracias.
