Game was called much better in the second half.
 
I'll take you back to that awful block/charge call when we were up 63-60. If Stewie gets the and-1, we're likely up 66-60 with a trainload of momentum and one fewer foul against us.
 
Well you cant argue that ND had the foul advantage in the second half when they played us even. Because they didnt.

We did not play well; they did; and they won. Kudos to them.

Will be a soul searching moment for BStew who just had a terrible game.
Having Stokes would've helped.

It was and UCONN had their chances. With all those shots in the last minute we should have won it.
Oh well. If we're going to lose a tough one let it be early like this.
 
that had to be the most brutal game I have ever seen. Can some explain exactly what a reach in foul is and under what circumstances should it be called?
 
This game was not about fouls. It was about mental toughness in crunch time and ND was mentally tougher.

KML was wide open but with her ankle injuries in the game I wonder about the lift on her shot. Oh well.

Stewie played much better down the stretch but certainly played a less than auspicious game.
 
That's 5 out of 6, including 2 at UConn and 2 in the NCAAs. I hate losing to those guys!

The hard practice was likely because they were playing like crap. He will say that that just carried over to the game.
 
Say what you will. Among the top 5 teams, I think any one team could beat any of the others on any given day. I am not sure at this point there is any clear cut favorite for the National Championship.
 
The two offensive fouls against Stewie cost us the game they were in the second half. They were bull@### calls. The first one took way two points and the foul shot, plus an additional foul on one of their better players who would not have been in at the end..... Notre Dame came down and scored 2. So that is -5

The second offensive foul again stopped stewie from going to the line... an additional 2 foul shots, and then an easy 2 for ND. -4. That is a total of -9. A nine point swing that cost us the game....

Was Bria's 3 pointer at the end of the half important now??? Did anyone ever check Mabrey's questionable 3?

I thought Diggins played an amazing game against us as she often does. This kid comes to play; especially with the game on the line.
 
That last foul called when Diggins flopped on the drive by Bria really ticked me off. She has flopping down to a science--there was no contact at all...

Regardless of the refereeing, this was if not an epic fail, damn close to it. Whatever it is they're telling Stewart to do, she does not seem to be doing it. Shooting way too fast, for one thing. They got her going to the basket way too late in the game, and the end of the game is not the time to be trying long shots to open up the inside game.

I'm not enough of an analyst to know exactly why it happened as much as it did, but all too often, ND was able to get an outside shooter loose for either a step back or an open shot in the corner. And as someone else suggested, maybe a hard practice right before the game was not a good idea. If it was designed to get the players to play slower during the game, it clearly did not succeed. Could it be that this once, Geno got outcoached?
 
It was not outcoaching... it was allowing ND to play the refs like they always do. This game was physical. The women's game has become too physical as of late. Something needs to be done about that. In additional to that, they need to stop calling the acted out fouls. Diggins should get an emmy for her performance.
 
You know why they were playing like crap, I've told you twenty times.

I'll go one better. I just plain hate them. Always have despised ND from the Ruth Riley days - who is the player who got away with more travels than any other player - heck most other teams in total. One of my few feel good moments was when Criqui was saying that after ND leaves the BE they want to continue to play UConn, but UConn has told them their dance card is full. Ima thinkin Geno doesn't like them much either.
 
ND seems to have our number. Their style of play and mental toughness hurt us again.
