That's a great question. My $.02. Texas is a "big" team. First off the bench when it was closer was Stokes, and at the time, Nurse was not doing much at all. UCONN went on a huge run and when he needed another sub he went to Williams. If I had to guess, I would say it's because of Texas' size. And I'm not sure if Jefferson sat out at all the 1st half.

I just want to add that while I love Williams' game, against the size of Texas she was overmatched and ineffective when she did get in. But I'm very glad Geno did not pull her immediately. I think if she gets very little PT it will reinforce the message to her that she needs to work on her outside game and guard skills to be more than just an interior player.
 
This would be a good time to get Saniya and Gabby in to get them some good minutes...

One other observation - I would not be surprised to see Chong and Williams only get a few minutes. It may be that Geno wants to see how the stamina of his starting 5 looks if they play closer to 40 minutes. This is a great game to test that out...
 
BTW here's a shocking number - 4. The total number of UCONN turnovers thus far. That's remarkably clean basketball against a pretty good Texas team...

Dead on. Another smart move by Geno
 
and Just an observation from the 16 minute mark to the current 8 minute mark, UCONN only outscored Texas by 1. All it takes is a quick 4 or 8 minute stretch where UCONN blows the doors off a game. My point is Texas is capable of playing with UCONN for stretches, but no one can do it for 40 minutes...
