Thanks a ton, tcf15. I enjoyed the replay almost as much as I did the live game because of that damn music they blared relentlessly at the XL.
My thoughts, for what they're worth:
1. It was GREAT to finally see the girls back in action. I've really missed them.
2. I will not critique anybody's play. It was the first "game" for goodness sakes. Clearly lots of nerves out there (for the freshman especially), lots of work to do, but Stewie, Moriah, Kia and Gabby looked just beautiful.
3. Lubbock had 2 pretty big 6'5" kids (#13 and #54) so we got to play against some good size. And Lubbock played hard, all game. Give them credit. (a small version of last year's St. Francis' tournament team.)
4. One thing I observed came close to absolutely ruining the day for me. I was initially very excited and surprised to see Morgan start the game WITHOUT A KNEE BRACE. She played most of the first quarter, subbing out a few minutes and returning without it. But when she started Q2, she had that damn knee brace on. I'm hoping she put it back on not so much because she was experiencing pain, but maybe psychologically the brace just gives her a better sense of security, and she's not yet used to playing without it- after all, she played at an All-American level with it all of last year. Maybe Morgan's a bit nervous to finally, after all these years, play without it.
