Game Day Haiku | The Boneyard

Game Day Haiku

I’ve never been to
Carnesecca Arena
but could have last year.

Vermont was in town,
one of my favorite teams.
I stayed home instead.

A back and forth game,
Anthony Lamb was the man:
hit the game winner.

I guess the lesson
to this banal play-by-play
of a random game:

Rouse up and explore
your surrounding areas
once this thing passes.

.-.
Rouse up and explore
your surrounding areas
once this thing passes.

Area has too
many syllables for just
a four letter word

yet w has
three syllables, one letter,
'less you spell it out

scraunched has ten letters
crammed into one syllable.
back to basketball...

saint johns with no Lou
no Satan and no Mullins
stands nary a chance

Against the hurley
led squad from next state eastward
even without bouk

.-.

Martin Luther King
dreamed, equality for all
should be the standard

That all men deserve
the respect of their brothers
in this great nation

That anything less
will bring discord and sorrow
all should have the chance

To pursue their rights
to happiness and great joy
American Dream

Game at two thirty
what could be better today,
than some basketball

.-.
UConn v St. John’s
great battles at the garden

Wow! That’s a sweater!
