Gabby Gets Homecoming Game In Nevada Next Year

The Sun arena just like Bridgeport are neutral sites. They are definitely not home courts for either men or women's teams - they are certainly more neutral than Rupp Arena which is the KY men's arena, but considered by the NCAA as a neutral site for the KY women

HAHAHAHAHA

from the article The UCLA game will be a homecoming for sophomore guard Katie Lou Samuelson, who grew up about 45 minutes from Pauley Pavilion in Huntington Beach, California.

Maybe at 2am with no construction on the road.

My son will get to go. He lives walkable to Paulley just north of campus. When he was going to college near Chicago he got to see the the men play at ND. He founded the original version of the UConn sports chat group. Big UConn fan even though he never attended there.

This is fantastic for a UConn fan like me! I thought I would never get to see them play live. Reno is about an 8 hour drive one-way from where I live, but that's no biggie.
I live in Sacramento about 2 and half hours away. If you are planning to spend the night in Reno, Silver legacy Casino rates are about $59 a night for a Tuesday

Thanks for the advice. I'm too excited to post much more now. Watching UConn play live was a bucket list item for me that I never thought I'd check off. Whoo who!

I was at the UCdavis game a couple years it was awesome, in the 2018-2019 UConn will be in Berkley ,ca to play the Cal Bears

Can't wait for the UCLA game as it's about 20 minutes away from me. I'll probably take a flight to Reno for the Nevada game too...
I'm planning on making the UCLA game - live in Phoenix plus we used to live in LA so have friends there. Any advice on how/when to get single game tix?

I plan to be in San Diego or Irvine for Thanksgiving. I may stay over and fly to Reno. I'd like to pay tribute to the Gabbulous One!

That is so awesome that they named the arena after Tierney Lawlor! ;)
Michigan State game in Eugene is on Saturday 25th (Thanksgiving weekend), and the Reno game is Tuesday 28th. Wonder if the UCLA game will be just before those two, just after them, or in between. ????

I hope it's the same trip. I'd love to go to Pauley.

Wow that will be a long road trip. I would guess the Ucla game will be the Tues or weds before. Thanksgiving at the Samueksons?

It is a fairly standard 'west coast' (or for west coast teams - east coast) swing - schedule two or three games over the space of a week or so, and don't change time zones during the swing.

I have never seen UConn take a 3 game, 10 day road trip, which is what this could amount to. In fact not sure I've seen any college team do that.

It is also over thanksgiving week - and right now it is 25th and 28th which is no where near ten days - if they play on the 23rd or the 30th it would be 6 or 7 days depending on when they fly.

I highly doubt that they are playing Thanksgiving night. If it's Wednesday, they fly out Tues. Come back following Weds. That's 9 days.

I wonder if Geno will bring the clubs?

If you stay over in Reno the cheapest is Circus Circus Casino at around $54 a night including taxes

How are the bed bugs. Occurs to me that game is one I can actually take in without paying a fortune in travel, lodging etc. Seeing next year's team is a genuine bucket list thing for me (and I'm in the bucket list zone!). If the Mrs. can drag me to Africa this year, I figure she can come or not to Reno next year (school year). Lord, I do not want to go to Africa!

Road trip!

Thanks. So a 10 day trip, or more.
Looks like it might be UCLA on Tuesday night, everybody fly home Wednesday morning for Thanksgiving, meet up in Eugene Friday afternoon for practice, Michigan State Saturday, Reno Tuesday. 9-day trip including travel to/from, and including 2-day Thanksgiving break. 10 days if they go out to LA on Sunday instead of Monday.

I'm skeptical most players are going to fly all the way back east for a 2-day T-giving break. There are many times that west coast players have stayed east and gone to a teammate's house for the holiday.

All Seats are General Admision tickets meaning No Reserved seating, If any one is going, get there early for your choice of seats. Doors open 1 hour before Tip

As soon as this was announced I was looking for tickets from Las Vegas to Reno. Although Southwest won't sell tickets until next month, their current rates are $59 round trip. Add $100 or so for one night at a local hotel and it looks like a cheap side trip from LV where our daughter lives (she wants to go too).

Ten days or so in sin city and a trip to see Gabby in person, just wow.

We'll have to contain ourselves and not rush the court to grab her and hug her. :D:D:D

I'm thinking either Thanksgiving Dinner is at the Samuelsons' or Geno invites Jon, Karen, Bonnie, and Karlie to the team dinner.

If they head to Oregon before Thanksgiving, look for Caroline Doty to be involved.
