"In the first quarter, Williams volleyball-spiked a shot by Nagy and raced down the floor as Nurse took possession. Nurse’s pass to the opposite wing was behind Katie Lou Samuelson, but Samuelson was able to get her left hand on it and make a tap pass to Williams, who made the layup as she was fouled.
The Huskies on the floor, the bench, and the crowd of 10,109 went wild. Coach Geno Auriemma smiled and applauded.
“That was just kind of getting back at Coach for calling us duds,” Williams said with a smile. “We tried to show him that we have a bit of spunk."
