Not basketball, but sports related. Just my opinion but the posting, read criticism, regarding Ducharme and Patterson have gone way over the top. I have nothing but mad respect for the minutes played and effort expended by a pretty obviously compromised Ducharme and the rhetoric by some of a freshman giving her all as she attempts to climb the steep learning curve from HS to D1, Patterson, is, again IMO, just plain mean spirited.
Anyway, FWIW, this video provides a look at sports at its absolute finest, and hopefully will provide some food for thought.

Sometimes it seems fans think the players are robots and just need Geno to program them before winding them up and sending them into a game. I guess an off game is either bad programming or defective units.

The Huskies are young (18-24) college players that play basketball. They have classes with tests and labs and term papers. They have families and the obligations that go along with that. Some are far, very far, from home and may be homesick. The players have friends and a social life as they should, lest they burn out. They’re required by the coaching staff to do some community service, sign autographs, pose for pictures and all the obligations that come with being a Husky.

They’re dinged up and playing a lot of minutes against teams whose coaches know they can tire the Huskies out more by banging them around. Geno had to shorten his practices because the kids are wearing down, physically and mentally. Geno said that a couple days ago.

And yet, they get endlessly criticized for not shooting right or being slow on defense. Pretty easy to take shots at the kids while sitting in an easy chair in their living room.

My sentiments exactly. Just yesterday I posted that stop being so negative, think positive. They are young and playing a difficult game that requires speed, agility and thought.Give them a break! I have said many times the thing I admire most about Caroline is her GRIT. Last year with a bad hip she carried Uconn when Paige went down and did it well until she got hit in the head. That was bad and she has spent the better partof a year recovering from a hip operation and the head injury. Caroline is the gutsiest player I know and when she gets right , she will shine. Think positive or watch some other sport IMHO! GO CAROLINE!! GO HUSKIES!!!

IMO the injuries to Paige & Ice & Azzi have led to Ayanna playing more minutes out of necessity, more minutes than she would be playing otherwise.

Unfortunately, some posters have no idea of what is going on with the team. To criticize players for not playing up to their (fans) expectations in beyond comprehension.

These young ladies are elite athletes. Their desire to perform at the highest level cannot be in doubt. They go out every game and play at 100% the whole game. They are getting banged around consistently. Yet they continue to give it everything they have. They refuse to loose!!!

As Geno said, they are some really tough kids!!!

This is a shot from the Creighton game. Don't know when it was (guessing, probably walking back when a teammate was about to shoot foul shots) - Nika looks like she's running on empty but in live action she was constant motion. These guys have been leaving everything they have on the floor each and every outing, adjusting to play with whoever can suit up that game. We are truly blest to have the privilege of being their fans. Love every one of them.

The constant effort that our girls put in to every game is amazing considering the injuries and illnesses they've been burdened with for almost 2 years! They put as much effort into every game as they can muster! I'm totally amazed with their performances each and every game!
I couldn't ask for MORE than I've seen from every single girl on the roster

And I never cease to be in awe of how mature and even-tempered they appear when interviewed after a game, either on court or in the presser, even considering how dumb some of the questions can be. Geno is that way, too. You never see him snap at a reporter, no matter how inane the question. It's almost like this is part of the training they undergo by the coaching staff, right from freshman year..
