Right around the time this whole pandemic started, I came across one of the coolest websites ever. Someone here on the BY pointed it out - thank you very much! The site compiles replays and box scores of every possible UCONN men's and women's hoops games, as well as football games. Tournament games are included. It does a great job categorizing them and has provided me with hours and hours of entertainment. I linked the site right here. You will all love it. welcome.html

So last night I was doing a little digging, and figured I'd watch some of the biggest blowouts in UCONN men's hoops history. Here they are! Forgive me if I missed one...my eyes were glazing over.

Season Opponent Score Margin
1995-96 CCSU 116-46, 70
2005-06 Morehead St. 129-61, 68
1998-99 Wagner 111-46 , 65
2005-06 Texas Southern 113-49, 64

* I also found the game in which we scored the most points...but it wasn't one of the biggest blowouts. In the 1993-94 season, we beat Tennessee Tech 130-78. In this one season, UCONN scored >100 6 times! Just for perspective, we have now scored 100 or more 6 times since the 2008-09 season! They did it in one season!

Found another good one.

On 12/29/96 we beat Hartford pretty good, and scored 68 points in the second half!

Not the biggest blowout, but I loved the game we crushed UVA, handing them their worst home loss, iirc.

.-.
I thought we destroyed UVA at home at the civic center. Think it was when Jeff Jones was the coach in the "90's.

This post is inspirational. Blasting your way out of a Covid 19 isolation with a compilation of Husky blowouts.
Thanks. Husky Nation down but far far from out!

You are correct! It was a beat down. But it wasn't very high scoring - I guess nothing has changed about Virginia basketball.

1993-94 season, but it was AT Virginia. They were ranked #12. We won 77-36.

2 games UConn destroyed Virginia. One at home and one on the road.

11/29/93 - at UVA 77-36 when UVA was ranked 12th in the country. I believe that's the one being mentioned above.

1/28/96 - at Gampel 76-46. But UConn was ranked 4th in the country and UVA wasn't ranked. So that one wasn't as unexpected as the one at UVA 2 seasons prior.

The game against Quinnipiac in 05-06. It was really Hilton Armstrong's coming out party. In the first game listed against CCSU, Ruslan Inyatkin has his careeer game including a steal and impressive dunk toward the end

If we're talking name-brand blowouts, the 86-54 shellacking of UNC in 2002 was delightful. They stunk but it was very satisfying to pummel them.

86-59 over #6 Oklahoma in 2004 was fun too.

I always liked 2002 vs UMass. The first half has to be one of the worst displays of ball during the JC era. Down 30-9 at the half I think? One can only imagine what JC said at halftime but we came out playing with urgency and raining threes. Eventually won by 10 points or so but wow that first half is painful.

Also the beat down of Louisville in 2009 is always great to watch.

I was at that game as well. Just a random tidbit, I believe that game was played on Super Bowl Sunday.

Yep....That was the 1996, 76-46 win at the HCC.
I drove into Hartford with my buddy and my wife picked me up after the game to head to a Super Bowl party... Busy day.

This is great. I will be watching some of these games now. Thanks guys!

Did Ray Allen catch an alley oop from just over half court that game?

I personally love watching any game from the 89-90 season...except the Duke game for obvious reasons.

But beating Georgetown with Mourning and Dik Mutombo then Cuse with Coleman, Owens and Stevie Thompson back to back in I believe the same week was epic at the time.

Watching this game right now. The first half was a joke! Had to be the worst half in the JC era.
4 points with 13 minutes left...5 points with 4 minutes left...crowd getting ANTSY! Got to 9 and then went scoreless for the final 3.5! Felt like a loss at the half...there were boos reigning down...Calhoun basically emptied the bench in disgust at one point.

The run even went into the 2nd half. It was 34-9 at the 18 minute mark, and then...what a run! The crowd got into it as well. Our crowd gives us an awesome advantage. Also noted was the place was packed to the rafters. Fun game to watch. Lappas going nuts down the stretch was fun to watch as well. Tied it up by the 7:30 mark with a barrage of steals and 3's. Down 20 with 14 minutes left and win by 11.That's firepower.

The game doesn't really fit with the spirit of your post but the second half is fun and we get the obligatory "Denham Brown scored 111 points in high school" from the commentators.

Just watched 2004 vs Oklahoma.......we have fallen soooo far. That team was so loaded I can’t believe it. We were three deep or more at every position.

I feel the same way watching this 2002 UMass game. This team had FIREPOWER. And they were far from one of our best.

I have been watching some old games, as well. The '87-'88 team, long before it's NIT run, goes up to The Carrier Dome and beats a powerhouse Syracuse team (Sherman Douglas, Derrick Coleman, Rony Seikaly, Stevie Thompson, Matt Roe) that was coming off of the Keith Smart title game loss and was the pre-season #1 team in the nation. Playing a 2-3 zone and walking the ball up the court, UConn wins 51-50. The game turns on an intentional foul call on Syracuse with seconds left, sending Cliff Robinson to the line.

HCJC's reaction at the buzzer is classic.

The 2004 Elite Eight game against Alabama is a favorite of mine. Bama was only seeded 8 but they were the hot team, coming off wins over seeds 1 and 5. Guy next to me at the bar was going on and on how Bama could run. UConn beat them up.

2011 Maui Invitational (3 games: Wichita state, Mich St, and Kentucky) We went from unranked preseason to top 10 by winning those 3 games. Kemba scored a tournament record for points over those 3 games, scoring over 30 twice and then 29 vs Kentucky in the final. That thrashing is particularly sweet.
