I was just thinking about it the other day. It's almost impossible to beat an opponent that much in one season, especially considering the comparable talent. But Rick always give us fits with his press and making our guards expend so much energy. In recent years, Louisville neutralized our guards with their quickness and scheme. And we all know how vulnerable this team is if the guards are stopped. With all this said, could they have found a way?

I think it would have been a great game, with the way they were playing defense.

Actually I am thinking that Louisville inspired UConn to play that type of defense, especially Boatright - pressuring the ballhandlers and such.

Yeah, they beat us three times, of course they could have made it four. We win if Harrell if kidnapped and put in the trunk of a car.

I cheered when Kentucky beat Louisville. Cheering for Kentucky is not something I do.

Uconn women beat ND last year after 3 regular season losses. A 4th meeting would have had a different dynamic to it than the previous 3 meetings and this team would have forgotten about the previous 3 losses.

Uconn was on a roll in the tournament and I would have liked our chances if UofL had been good enough to make it to the finals.

Louisville being eliminated cemented our chances of winning it all. Sorry but we just couldn't beat them this year. I also don't think uk would have beaten florida if we lost or ville beating uk. Lady luck can be a great quiet friend as long as you don't depend on or look for her.

Funny sports year ain't it?

Fun? Getting a root canal is fun, having your mother-in-law come with you is fun, explaining to the boss why your browsing history has site called "The Boneyard" in it is fun; facing UL for a 4th time, that's anything but fun.

Yeah, absolutely. Anybody who can't see that the UConn of today is drastically different than the UConn team of three weeks ago wasn't paying very close attention. They were a bad match-up, obviously, but so was Florida. The Memphis and Cincinnati wins in the AAC tournament may have been what some people consider to be the turning point of this season, but I think the St. Joe's game was when the light bulb went off. In fact, St. Joe's was the perfect team for us to play - sometimes it takes a team full of players hitting outrageous shots to get you to start defending like a pack of wolves. We knew, in that game, that if we gave them an inch, we were going to pay. The rest of the tournament? They didn't give anybody an inch. Sometime in the second half of the St. Joe's game, our defense stopped being really good, and started being dominant.

And, as I've said, sometimes it's as simple as making shots. UConn made shots in that tournament. Against Louisville in the AAC championship, they missed countless open jumpers.

I'd like to think that they could have, but I had Arizona taking them out because you never know. I was glad when Kentucky got the job done, even though it cost me in my bracket.

I was thinking about last game with Louisville. They jumped all over us in the first half and it looked like a repeat of the previous rout.
Somehow we managed to outscore them the second half, which many here wrote off as Rick taking his foot off the pedal.
Watching Rick all these years he seldom let's his teams coast. He would rather beat you by 20!than 10.
I'm saying that the second half against Louisville actually started the run.

DD was able to score at will against a tough Cardinal team .
That was a huge confidence builder.
A 4th meeting might have been different.

Well we did go from losing by 33 in the 2nd game to only losing by 10 in the third. So we got 23 points better. Another 23 points and we win the 4th matchup!

Louisville would beat us 100 out of 100 times.

Glad we didn't have to play them.
Just a terrible match up, for us.

The last time we beat them was when Thabeet was still with us. It would be difficult to beat Louisville if they have guards that can neutralize our guards. We can beat them if our frontline is either their equal or better than theirs. When we last played against them, we beat them by 4 points in the 2nd half. Many people do not know that. It was probably because our bigs had developed to a point to make it happen over the course of half a game but were not good enough to beat them in full game. I hope we play Louisville next year when our front court is much more developed. With Purvis, Boat, Hamilton, Amida, Nolan, and Cassell, we might beat them by a large margin since they will be losing R. Smith, Motrezl, and Hancock to graduation. If Daniels returns, the win could be much easier.

Edit: Oh, yeah, we beat Louisville by 1 point in the 2011 BE championship run, the wining play being the under-the-rim- pass from a snake -like penetration by Kemba, who slithered through three Cardinals, to Jeremy Lamb who then easily laid it up for 2 unforgettable points. Oh, yeah, I did forget to mention that, ma bad.

Siva especially was a Husky killer. I had so much respect for him. It's scary to think that they have had guards quicker than ours, if that's even possible. LOL

I thought we beat Louisville for the BE tourny in 2011.

You can only play the teams put in front of you. Louisville was a tough matchup for us but, alas, they couldn't get there. Would have been sweet to beat them though...
