FSU is looking for justification right now. Period. It's an identity issue. FSU wants to be part of the SEC and since it can't get in there it wants the ACC to be SEC light. The ACC has always prided itself on it's academics. Louisville, temporarily, has a better football program than we do. Our academics are, because of a very significant current gap and resource differences as a State U, always going to be better. Connecticut's pluses: Academics, TV demographics and basketball. To me its an easy choice.
I've heard that three teams will vote against us. If everyone else is in favor of us we should be in, however, FSU is, apparently, flexing its muscles and the ACC is very vulnerable right now. It is an interesting power struggle. I don't see the Tobacco Road schools giving in and they, apparently favor UConn.
When (if?) they make the announcement, they want to be able to say they "tried to make it work, but the ACC of old no longer exists".
That seems to be the standard go-to script for all the defectors.
