Two degrees from UConn. Hoops season tickets since 1990, football since 2003. Read the Boneyard, but after recent events, felt compelled to post. Know some of this is repetitive, but here goes:
- It's obvious that Coach P and DeLeone need to go right now. Put the OC in charge for the rest of the season and search for a new coach when the season is over.
- Truly thought that the talent was upgraded, but regardless, if the upgraded talent isn't bettered by the coaching staff, it doesn't really matter who you recruit.
- It's also clear that the OC doesn't have full autonomy.
- It's embarrassing that fans can't get in their seats for kickoff. It's even further annoying that folks need to find their way to their seats during most of the first quarter and block the view of others.
- As a UConn alum and fan, it's also embarrassing that 8-10 State Troopers need to waste their time in the upper reaches of the stands to pull middle aged folks out who can't behave themselves. Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life.
- UConn students gave quite an ovation when it was announced that UConn was a Top 20 Public School. Seemingly no one else in the stadium cared or noticed.
- During warm-ups with both teams on the field, is there a reason someone decided to do things like interview UConn students and ask them things like if they knew where Towson was located and what conference they are in or discuss the Maryland mascot? Do we really need to motivate the opposition any more than they already are?
- Certainly lots of positives with UConn both academically and athletically, unfortunately, football isn't one of them.
- If I was a rep from the Big 10 or ACC and took in a few games at the Rent and witnessed some of the stuff we've all witnessed from a football / crowd perspective, I don't think I'd be recommending UConn.
