in addition to UConn @ BYU. Who you guys got tonight? I got Temple -23.5 @ Charlotte (7pm, CBSSN) and Memphis -8.5 @ USF (7pm, ESPN2).

I like Memphis at that spread, after seeing the Cincy game last night, I'm not sure the Memphis defense is as bad as I originally thought. Then again I am no degenerate.

Those heavy rains in the Carolinas, Georgia, and in Virginia may influence some games. Just looked, UNCC has a fake field so it's not as much of an issue as noter dame playing its' first opponent of much quality Sat at Death Valley, UGA hosting Bama, etc.

Any particular reason Temple decided to fly to another part of the country and play in a high school stadium? The presentation of this game is one of the worst I've ever seen.

It's pretty close, they need to play games that return home games, counts as an FBS win for bowl eligibility and probably would like to recruit some players from Western NC?

Memphis seems to have a targeting problem.

The second one just seemed to be an accident. Can't really argue the call but 'targeting' is a strange term for it.

I guess the intent is to try to get kids to stop leading withe the crown of the helmet all the time. That one on the punt he was blocking, but instead of just getting into his body he launched himself head first.

Beyond scheduling what should be a Temple win in a pretty strong recruiting region, under 2 hours direct flight away, and within the same Mid Atlantic region? UNC Charlotte's a fast growing school with a very new football program, joining either CUSA or the Sun Belt conference, likely has an expandable stadium or will build something bigger, and they likely filled a scheduling need for the Owls. FWIW, Georgia Tech flew from Atlanta to play a 1-AA to 1-A transitioning school in what their players viewed as a high school stadium: UCONN and Memorial Stadium.

Temple Football @Temple_FB
With 6 tackles tonight, Tyler Matakevich now has 390 in his career tying Al Singleton for 3rd on the TU all-time list.

PP.

Temple playing a road game @Charlotte is similar to NC State, UNC, VT, etc scheduling road games @Old Dominion. These "buy" games aren't getting any cheaper and with ND and PSU at home already this year Temple can afford to go on the road to a highly populated area with a TON of high school talent with potential to be on hand (game being on Friday kind of ruins that though) and on TV.

I live in Charlotte, the low crowd tonight at UNCC has more to do with the absolutely nasty hurricane weather outside than the team itself. The Charlotte alumni are extremely proud of their school and pack that place- similar to ECU (smaller stadium obviously because of a newer team, which is expandable or they'll play games at BoA).

Georgia Tech got a 2-1 w UConn.

Sure, and the 1 was still played in Storrs against a non-1-A (FBS) opponent: UCONN. The point remains.

Which makes sense when you get 2-1.

I don't think we disagree - I posted the reasons why Temple would go to Charlotte a few posts before you. Seems completely reasonable to me.

Charlotte is at the geographic center of the most fertile recruiting territory in both Carolina's. 75% of the D1 caliber players areewithin 2 he's or less of UNCC's campus & Atlanta's mega fertile territory is only 4hrs away

South Florida with the backdoor push.

Memphis held serve - the AAC West is actually interesting.
