Friday (3/8) games

I am impressed with Kentucky's freshmen this year (Green and Howard)

They got a good little duo for the next 3 years.

I hate this Irish neon green.. I hate this ugly Carolina blue.. I hate this Irish fight song..
I am confused about how you really feel, stop sugarcoating your commentary...

Apparently Mr Mabrey is one of those parents who doesn't like to sit real close to the floor. He was offering a front row seat to anyone who wanted one :). He has moved around a few times
Probably gets really nervous haha

UCLA off to a quick 10-4 start, exploiting an advantage inside and on the glass

Apparently this was announced on Wednesday, but I just heard it now: Japreece Dean has been granted another year of eligibility by the NCAA so she's coming back next season.

Whoa. I didn’t even know that was a possibility. That’s a huge get for the Bruins. I was really surprised she didn’t get any all-conference recognition, not even HM. I thought her play was critical to their strong finish and especially in their key wins.

I had no idea either. I don't know her history at Texas Tech.

She's feeling it today. Got that nice little curl into the lane for a mid range jumper working.

Maci Morris and Murray are a combined 1-13

Kentucky shooting 19% from the field

I’m proud to say it only took me 18 minutes to walk from the Luxor to the arena. Yesterday it was more like 25-30 having to navigate the unfamiliar obstacle course and maze of endless casinos and inadequate signage :mad:

If you got to the arena without gambling, I think MGM would say there's too much signage. :D

There was a video posted somewhere of the coach telling the team, and it was very cute.

Looking around the crowd, there is definitely more orange than any other color. The green is a somewhat distant second.

Too bad UCLA couldn’t play this well in the first half of the season. They would be hosting. Onyenwere already with 12 and Dean has 10 points and 4 assists in mid 2Q.

Ibis just picked up her 2nd foul. Danger zone for ASU already down 13.

ND starting to pull away from UNCheat. Just when I was actually rooting for the Tarheels to do something-where's Bailey when I need her? Come on @triaddukefan- tell Arike to drive on Bailey aggressively....

They showed that a few minutes ago. That was fun!

Man...Janelle Bailey is really focused today. This is the best I've seen her play (haven't seen a lot of UNC games, tho). If she can learn to keep her emotions in check, she is going be out of this world by the time she's a senior.

ASU actually has more O boards than UCLA at this point (9-4 wow!), but the Bruins are shooting the ball well enough they don't need 2nd chance points. Neither team has hit a 3 yet.

ACC quarterfinals
Miami (4) vs. Syracuse (5) (11am ET)
Notre Dame (1) vs. North Carolina (8) (2pm). Will Janelle Bailey be back from suspension?
Louisville (2) vs. Clemson (7) (6pm)
NC State (3) vs. Florida St (6) (8pm)

SEC quarterfinals
Mississippi St (1) vs. Tennessee (8) (12pm ET).
Kentucky (4) vs. Missouri (5) (2pm)
South Carolina (2) vs. Arkansas (10) (6pm)
Texas A&M (3) vs. Auburn (6) (8pm). How will the Aggies play without Chennedy Carter?

Big Ten quarterfinals
Maryland (1) vs. Michigan St (9) (12pm ET)
Michigan (4) vs. Wisconsin (13) (2:25pm)
Iowa (2) vs. Indiana (10) (6:30pm).
Rutgers (3) vs. Purdue (11) (8:55pm). If Purdue can go on a run like they did in 2017, they might steal a bid.

Pac-12 quarterfinals
UCLA (4) vs. Arizona St (5) (2:30pm ET)
Oregon (1) vs. Arizona (8) (5pm).
Stanford (2) vs. Cal (7) (9pm). The rivalry rubber match.
Oregon St (3) vs. Washington (11) (11:30pm)

AAC first round
USF (5) vs. Tulane (12) (12pm ET).
ECU (8) vs. SMU (9) (2pm). The winner plays UConn tomorrow.
Tulsa (7) vs. Wichita St (10) (6pm)
Temple (6) vs. Memphis (11) (8pm)

Big 12 first round:
Oklahoma (8) vs. Texas Tech (9) (7pm ET). Winner gets the "honor" of playing Baylor tomorrow.
Oklahoma St (7) vs. Kansas (10) (9:30)

Other conference tournaments in action: A-10, SoCon, MAAC, OVC, WCC, A-Sun.
Plebe - I’d like to thank you for putting up this thread each day. It’s very helpful.

UCLA was up as much as 15. ASU got it down to 9. Earlier UCLA had a big advantage in FTA, but it's turned 180 degrees in that regard. Only thing keep ASU from getting blown out. They just got a questionable foul call w/ less than a second left in the half, 3rd foul on Drummer.

I like to think I'm neutral on this game. It seemed pretty clear to me UCLA was getting the benefit of the whistle to start, and then it flip flopped. I really wish refs would just call games straight up.

UCLA up 41-31 at half.

Another WNIT bid opens up!
Looks like PAC will have USC, Arizona, and possibly Cal.
I can’t see Cal getting left out at this point; but perhaps they’re just shy of a lock.

Notre Dame up now 21 with 4:49 left. Sort of surprised the Irish are keeping their starters in and risk a major injury. Stranger things have happened.

Time to warm up the bus tar heels.. Time for yall to beat the traffic on interstate 40 east

The whistles tend to favor the team that can drive aggressively or get the ball inside or offensive rebound. That was UCLA for most of the first half. ASU was able to get some fouls driving late in 2Q. Sometimes the shifting action of the game dictates how the whistles also shift. I’m also very neutral about this game btw. I like both of these teams even as I recognize their limitations :)

You know you’re having a good day on offense when you score 41 in a half on ASU.
