Both Clingan and Karaban have been really impressive this season and made me curious how other freshmen duos compare in terms of points scored. Karaban has 83 points and Clingan has 76 points through 8 games so far.

Here are the other UConn freshmen duos to have at least 65 points through their first 8 games (since 1988-1989):
  • 2001-2002: Ben Gordon (99) and Emeka Okafor (67)
  • 1993-1994: Ray Allen (117) and Doron Sheffer (96)
  • 1989-1990: Nadav Henefeld (82) and Scott Burrell (72)
Other notable duos that missed the cut:
  • 2011-2012: Ryan Boatright (90) and Andre Drummond (58)
  • 2010-2011: Shabazz Napier (75) and Jeremy Lamb (52)
  • 2006-2007: Jerome Dyson (109) and Hasheem Thabeet (52)
  • 2002-2003: Denham Brown (70) and Rashad Anderson (44)
  • 2000-2001: Caron Butler (134) and Taliek Brown (61)
  • 1996-1997: Richard Hamilton (71) and Kevin Freeman (53)
  • 1991-1992: Donyell Marshall (91) and Brian Fair (51)

Would be nicer if with mpg. I believe DC is more impressive with limited minutes played.

Boone had 48 in his first 8 and Charlie had 121 in his first 8 games. Skipped over them since Charlie was ineligible for first 6 games of the season.
Okay makes sense…I knew Charlie V absolutely dominated.

Also, unreal that DC is average 11.4 fewer minutes per game than EO, but is ahead in total points.

I’m not good at crunching numbers, but is it possible that by point per minute production in first 8 games, DC is at the very top of the list including all these UCONN greats?

a great site is sports-reference.

1991-1992 - The Marshall Plan with Donyel and Brian Fair. That year they also had Chris Smith 21.2 ppg, Scott Burrell 16.3 ppg, Rod Sellers 12.3 ppg. Other Freshmen: Donny Marshall, Kevin Ollie, Boo Willingham, Richie Ashmeade, Rudy Johnson. Loads of talent.

Dont let any of these numbers distract us from the fact that Caron couldve been on the 04 team.

~.6pts/m which only Ray bested (.68) most of the rest average out to around .4p and Ray wasn't a center :D

Clingan is going to be a legend just like those guys. If Karaban doesn't end up in the pantheon of Husky greats too I'll be shocked.
