I spoke with Mr Basilica yesterday and he is thrilled his son will be a preferred walkon this fall. Jake is a great kid with very good grades at Montville HS. Good luck #61 and look for his Dad on the Boneyard soon. Note: he was an early BC verbal caught up in the coaching change there when they released most commits-thus many schools stopped recruiting him.

Here is something from Rivals on his footwork and his conditioning improving
He has gone from a D-IAA prospect at best to a kid that will make some local BCS programs take a long look this summer. His technique was the best of any lineman at the camp and he kept his feet moving at all times. His arm extension was also very impressive and he rode many defenders out of the passing zone simply by anchoring and extending his arms and using his strong base. - See more at: http://highschool. /content.asp?CID=1363358#sthash.1uAuxsgU.dpuf

Welcome Jake and Jake's Dad. Was Jake offered a scholarship to BC? Hopefully he's the next Donald Thomas.

We also have 6'6"Sam Murphy and 6'5" Brendon Vechery, both are also (I assume) preferred walkons for the O-line.

For many years, Nebraska gave few if any offensive line scholarships. They have a walk on tradition where they recruit OL walk ons and then award scholarships. Last year three walk ons formed the middle of their offensive line.

It is very difficult to project high school OL. Smaller guys have to maintain their quickness as they grow. Bigger guys need to work on their quickness. Few arrive with both skills or polished enough to play the college game. Good luck to Jake.

Jake was on the same 2012 Walter Camp All-Connecticut team as Newsome, Walsh and Boyle.
