Free throw shooting

Checked our stats yesterday and if you take away Clingan and Diarra (neither of whom shoots many) we are an excellent free throw shooting team. Andre at 69% and Adama at 78% are the only ones below 80%. Hawk, Newton, Karaban, Alleyne, Calcaterra are all better than 80.%. We just need to shoot more.

Even with them we're 43rd in the country at FT% at 75.8%. This is a good FT shooting team

Good point. But neither Clingan nor Diarra will be playing in crunch time in a close game. How many teams have 4 starters shoot 78% or better?

Helps when your starting big can hit 78%--that's a luxury most teams don't have.

I like that they have enough ball handlers who are very good free throw shooters to close out close games. We haven't always had that.

70’s “sounds” bad, but shooting mid 70s as a team is really good. Villanova is the gold standard of FT shooting and they’re 82%. The difference between their 82% and our 76% (6%) applied to our average FTA (19.5), would only result in 1.2 extra PPG
