As a season ticket holder, I actually like the move.
The stadium is almost empty, primarily because of how bad we've played but also because the temps have dropped. Any effort to get butts in the seats and perhaps... PERHAPS... create new young fans of the football team is the right thing to do.
Along with your point however, let's hope the AD also does the right thing with season ticket pricing for next year. Otherwise, the resulting response will be horrible...

It didn't seem like there were a ton of people at the basketball game either. Not sure how many more people you will get.

Consider it a donation in support of the program because free is closer to the actual value of the tickets than what we pay for season tickets.
They should save the money and tell the ticket scanners to stay home.

People should get their money back.
At this point the complaining about this needs to stop. They've been doing this for years. If you bought season tickets for any reason other than to support the school, that's your fault, not there's.
