RIP Fred, loved your work. IMO, underrated as a comic actor. He could deadpan funny stuff better than anybody, going all the way back to his work with Martin Mull on "Fernwood Tonight".

It's a shame the last thing I saw him in was that stupid Netflix movie about LSD where he had a small cameo that did his talents no justice. His work in "Best in Show" never fails to get a chuckle even after many repeated viewings.

One of my favorites! Always liked him and looks a lot like my dad (who is 73), always that they were around the same age, but shocked he was 86!

Here's my favorite role/scene of his career.

Rip. And the tv producer from anchorman Rip Phyllis George too. What a brutal stretch of bad news over and over since the Kobe passing. 2020 cud be most depressing year in history

Saw him at a pretty empty Improv in LA late one night working on new material. Funny man. Great on Fernwood 2night. RIP.

Fernwood 2 Night was a classic!!

He played the Ed McMann side-man, Jerry Hubbard, next to Martin Mull. And the house band "Happy Kyne and the Mirthmakers" was a hoot.

Underrated role for him was as Amy's puritanical father on Everybody Loves Raymond. The episode where Amys family meets Frank and Marie and him and Frank were having a pray off after Marie smashed the muffin in Franks pants. Hysterical stuff.

A great and under-appreciated talent. Rest in peace.

I remember as a kid watching those Fernwood shows late at night. Classic, classic stuff. Gary Sanders before Gary Sanders with a lot more slapstick.
