I am NOT surprised about Navy.

Notre Dame is reason 1. TV sets in the DC/MD/VA area is reason 2. National recognition is reason 3.

Basically ... it's about MONEY. The ACC has to concede that, like the BE before it, it is not a Football Superpower Conference. It has some semblance of competitive Programs that can aspire to play in a Playoff. But ... it is a increment below the others. (and the B1G has to be aware that ... barring a Ohio State continued resurgence ... that it too could be off the regular schedule)

Navy just tossed out an anchor into everyone's timeline. I agree with @Mengus22 that the Navy thing is like the Tulane to Big 12 thing last year.

That would pretty much be the most Notre Dame thing ever.

Basically the rest of the ACC would get less out of the football relationship and still get one of their bowl games.

Navy should be like "uhh we play Notre Dame every year no matter what".

Navy is 100% a play to get ND in full time, and that's it. ND's ties to Navy are only usurped by that of USC. The Navy game is incredibly important to ND and their boosters.

yes very true also. i can see this being the acc soon

duke/wake maybe bc and cuse plus prov/shu/sju/gt/nova/butler and a few other bball schools. they all drop and up fball to the same level. not fcs but not bcs and play fball together in a ivy lie league and have a power bball conf. navy and army can play in that and nd can have its other sports there until it goes B1G in 2015.
