Although I thoroughly enjoy the prospect of devastating wins for UConn, I respectfully disagree with Fox Sports' premise. The Huskies' first three opponents were certainly not a challenge, and I don't expect Texas to be much of one either. Announcers of the Texas v. UCLA game even commented that the contest looked to be at a level far beneath that at which UConn plays. Strange to make such a statement in the middle of a competitive game that announcers are supposed to hype, but still apparently in thrall to the mood of destruction the Huskies had just visited on a hapless MissSt team. Actually, I was pretty impressed with Baylor. They have the makings of a team that might give anyone a tough time. The game against the Bears will likely be a proxy for the NC. If UConn dismisses Baylor as it has all comers, the NC game will be what Fox says it will be: a demolition derby.
On another subject, I wanted to celebrate the generosity of Breanna Stewart to players on other teams. She empathized with the disappointment of those who lost. She also was congratulatory of a Syracuse player who had returned to the game after two serious knee surgeries. It's a sign of ultimate CLASS to think about others in the midst of what must be a self-absorbed quest to make history for her teammates and herself. Bre's basketball talent is only exceed by the quality of her personhood.
