I am very interested, I may be alone on this, to see how this network does and how viable it is in the long run. The Big East and their fans think it is great for them to be away from ESPN and have their own channel.

Last night FS1 had their biggest game to date, Baylor/Oklahoma, and it got beat badly in the rating by ESPN and their college game. Here are last nights sports ratings:

NFL Network (5.4); ESPN (4.1); TNT (2.0); FS1 (1.5).

I think ESPN will continue to dominate the ratings in CBB and will provide UConn very good exposure still despite the drop in conference. The Big East may be in trouble though given their isolation of Fox Sports 1. I think a lot of the country will forget about them.

I think FS1 will figure it out.

They have deep pockets and are playing for a long game.

But by the time FS1 is really cranking, the BE would probably be replaced.

BE basketball is like the old Aussie Rules Football from the early ESPN days.

I gave it a shot during its debut week but quickly went back to ESPN and the specialized TV networks(NFL Net, NBATV, etc). Besides that panel with GP, Andy Roddick, Donovan McNabb, and some other dudes discussing sports I didn't think it was terrible, but at this point I'm too set in my ways to try to fit another network into my regular TV watching. I'll check it out if there's an intriguing matchup on but my first insticts as a CBB and CFB fan is to go to ESPN first to see what they have, and I'm a diehard sports fan, I can't imagine the casual sports fan going out of their way to tune to FS1 & 2 over the ESPN networks. The $ with the new contract sucks but maintaining ESPN visibility was one of the most important things for UConn for the immediate present and future with the fallout of CR.

Aside from BE fans is anyone going to turn to FS1 to watch a random game? How many non-BE big games do they have to draw in other fanbases?

I'm not saying it's bad for BE fans bc they get more coverage for their teams, but I can't imagine they will outdraw whatever is on ESPN for college hoops unless they get some bigger games.

It may be more of a negative for FS1 than the BE.

I caught Fox Sports 1 bball games yesterday. They had very annoying graphics that took up the entire bottom of the screen and anyone dribbling near the lower sideline, you couldn't see their feet. Like watching Fred Flintsone drive a car. But the picture wasn't crisp either. Blotchy all over the place. FS1 has some work to do. It looked very cheesy.
