This has been discussed before but given that there is a decent chance we'll meet again in the final four, a quick summary of the UConn/Notre Dame rivalry the past few years.

Since the start of the 2012/2013 season and up to this point of the current campaign, the Huskies are a cumulative 144 - 5. Three losses to Notre Dame, one each to Baylor and Stanford.

Meanwhile, the Fighting Irish are 139 - 7, with five losses to UConn.

A combined 283 - 12, with only two losses apiece in four years to other schools.

Total domination of their sport by two excellent programs.

Because of the zero next to the NC count for the last 5 years, people do not recognize what Muffet hath wrought! It really is a truly remarkable record of consistent excellence that unfortunately came up against a team that was on a similar run, and the two chance they got to get past Uconn, they stumbled at the last fence.

Since 2007-8 season including yesterdays game Uconn is 327 - 14 with 8 of those losses to ND. Without the ND losses 98.2%
And since 2010-11 season they are 213 -12 with those same 8 losses against ND. Without the ND losses 98.2%

ND since 2010-11 season including this year are 205-19 with 9 of those losses against Uconn. Without the Uconn losses 95.3%

And in the above 2012-13 to present 139-7 with 5 Uconn losses - their percentage minus those losses is 98.6% while Uconn would be the same 98.6% without the ND losses.

The other team that is in the same conversation is Baylor
Baylor since 2010-11 season is 205-15 with four of their losses to ND or Uconn. Without those four losses their percentage is 94.9%

Three pretty remarkable teams and three pretty remarkable coaches.

She should have a better chance next year, but then again so should everyone else in the country.

Going back a few years, Stanford beat almost everyone else but UConn. They might have had a couple more championships if not for UConn.

It seems that it's not UConn which is bad for WBB but it's UConn, ND and Baylor which are bad for WBB :)
Not bad for WBB..............Maybe bad for other teams that have to play them.

There are 4 teams that have done 5 FF in a row - LSU, Stanford, ND, and Uconn x2. Uconn and ND are both on active streaks of 8 and 5 straight. Surprisingly TN for all their dominance never got beyond four.

I don't think nd should be lumped in with UConn like this. The distance between nd and the average team is the same as between UConn and nd

The best Muffet quote was after their last loss to UConn, "This is getting old"
If you stop and think about, but for UConn, ND would be the dominant program in WBB and Muffet would hailed as a genius. It has to suck for them.

That is why I am so glad Uconn recruits great talent. To defend against everyone. Especially ND

Is it bad that the first thing I thought of when I saw that 327-14 since 2007 stat was that Tennessee loses as many games in one season as we do in a decade?

And going back 25+ years, if you factor out UConn and TN, Stanford would be the dominant program and Tara would be the dominant face on the coaching Mt. Rushmore. Maybe MM would have joined her by now.

Much less baylor.

The other things bad for wbb: Texas A&M. Both agriculture and mechanics. They won a NC, so they must be bad for the sport. That damn Sidney Colson...
