On the Big East Women's Basketball Media Day (10/29/2020) Geno broke down his roster and told us which players would probably be his 8 player rotation for tourney time. Yep, he did. That is why he has 11 National Championships and we don't. Of course he didn't get it all right. Such as Paige is easy to coach. Same player he complains about giving him gas about her playing time. Same player with Nika forcing him to change his coaching style because they won't believe what he says. Geno also says "Paige isn't going to single handedly win the national championship for us. That's not how this works!" Hey, Geno it is getting close to her doing it! :D Back to the credit side of the ledger he did see Aaliyah and Nika probably playing a large role on this team. :)

Geno also said there was no way he would start TWO freshmen. But the team has gone on a nice winning streak starting Paige and Nika. In addition, Aaliyah has moved up in the rotation. In March, players who are classified as freshmen are not really newcomers, because they have 25 college games under their belts. I like the energy of this group--a lot!

Yeah, and there is third freshman who just might start a couple of tourney games.

Since the first game of the season, I have been impressed by the mobility and physicality of Edwards. When our junior class moves on to the WNBA, I see Paige, Fudd and Edwards being our core three. They are the next generation of this uconn program. They will have a lot of very talented players around them, especially on the wing, but I'm most interested to see what other posts are able to come in and crack the rotation.

During the tournament Coach Geno quipped during an interview that she's the best all time about giving him grief about playing time. I think it came up when he was asked about where he would rank her as a freshman/all-time UCONN player.

Geno should be made to wear green and red lights to indicate when he should be taken seriously and when he's trying to deflect a question by being (allegedly) funny. He was trying to avoid calling her his best ever freshman because, really, how do you coach someone after saying that... So what he said was, "I'll tell you what she's best at...". A couple of posters on other threads have chosen to seize on that remark as an indication of Paige's poor character and bad teamsmanship (not a word, I know, but if two or three of us start using it, we can make it one. Just like irregardless.).

Heading into the tournament, Geno really wants to use an 8 player rotation, but that’s still up in the air. While Anna got some minutes in the conference tournament, she appeared a little tentative and did not make a single basket. She’ll undoubtedly get some PT in the first couple games to hopefully demonstrate that she’s ready to contribute, but she has to show that she’s ready soon, or UConn will be largely using a 7 player rotation in the Big Dance.

Anna does need to shoot more but I think she will still be part of rotation, given her passing skills and court iq.

Agree, I think the issue for Geno is keeping five on the floor that can run offense. He's thin in the back court.

In the movie "Patton", George C. Scott, as Patton, during the advance to relieve Bastogne, yelled at his staff to order an attack with the command that they order their troops that if they failed, none were come back alive.

One of his staff officers told Patton that sometimes we can't tell if you are serious or not. Patton was said to have replied that it was not important if his staff knew, only that he knew.
