If we want to dream about reaching the end of the second weekend in March we need to improve our foul shooting.
Without fail, every time we get one of these takes the team is shooting mid-70s. Great reminder that the eye test is unreliable. We're 75% from the line right now and the game isn't even over. Relax.
At my age relaxing is a specialty. We left at least 10 points on the foul line, against a top team that is the difference between a win and a loss. We're 75% from the line right now and the game isn't even over. Relax.
I think you were overreacting to a couple misses. Tonight they were 24-33 for 72.7%. After tonight for the season they're 162-220 for 73.6%. That puts them at about 78th in the country out of 352 teams. So not bad at all. We can't expect the 2013-2014 team.If we want to dream about reaching the end of the second weekend in March we need to improve our foul shooting.

You're not good at math. They missed 9 free throws tonight since they were 24-33. So even if you expect 80% every game (which would put them in the top 10 in the country) they left 2 points at the line (80% of 33 is 26.4).At my age relaxing is a specialty. And OK State usually shoots under 70% and they went 16 for 19 (84%).At my age relaxing is a specialty. We left at least 10 points on the foul line, against a top team that is the difference between a win and a loss.
You are the latest on a very long list to remind me that my math is not good. IMHO there are three important stats, foul shooting, turnovers and rebounds. Let’s revisit later in the seasonYou're not good at math. They missed 9 free throws tonight since they were 24-33. If you're a worrier then you should pick another thing to worry about.
O.K. let's take a look. You are the latest on a very long list to remind me that my math is not good. IMHO there are three important stats, foul shooting, turnovers and rebounds. Let’s revisit later in the season
They are better than pretty good, enjoying season a lot, making more foul shots will be a positive development.O.K. let's take a look.
Foul shooting - After tonight they're at 73.6% which would be 78th in the country (stats from the NCAA are before today's games). They were 70th in the country before tonight. I wouldn't consider that a problem.
Rebounding margin - UConn is 8th in the country. Really good.
Turnovers - 13.8 per game, 215th in the country. So not good. But the pace the Huskies play at might have a lot to do with that since they have more possessions than most teams. Let's take a look at the assist/turnover ratio which might be a better indicator. A/TO ratio they're at 1.37, good for 44th in the country. Pretty good.
This team is pretty good. Just relax and enjoy it.
