“I really haven’t given up on basketball yet,” said Gay, who’s a member of the Huskies of Honor. “I’m just staying in shape and seeing what happens. Eighteen years is a long time. It is what it is. I’ve had a great career. Basketball is still fun to me.

“Anybody who you talk to who is competitive says, ‘I could have done more.’ But I’m happy with what I’ve done.”

Of course.

Scott Burrell had the low score at the UConn Legends event. Ray Allen, Donny Marshall and Oliver Macklin also turned in respectable rounds.

Burrell would probably be great if he took up curling. One of the best athletes athletes on the planet in his prime.

Burrell was an amazing athlete
i know he was a QB in HS
but with that arm I always wondered how far he would’ve gotten in football .
He must have been accurate also as not many people could throw a 3/4 court pass inbounding a BB and hitting his receiver in perfect position for a shot.
When you look at it a lot of buzzer beaters are prayers but that was a perfectly executed play.

As a pitcher I think his fastball was 95 mph in HS.

I played against him in high school. I had a guaranteed interception over the middle that he threw so hard it went through my hands, hit me in the chest, and knocked over. His receivers had a hard time catching his passes. But the word on the street was that him mom didn’t want him to get hurt so he focused on baseball and basketball.
