OT: Former Huskies in NBA preseason

Hawk with 13 points in 17 minutes on 3-6 from downtown tonight. Tied for a team high with 3 fouls though.

He grabbed those in the first 6 minutes he played where he was pretty off. I think 0-2 when he went out. One foul was on the break where he was left on an island 1 on 3

Unfortunately he didn't score until 2 minutes left in the 3Q in a 20+ preseason blowout against backups.

But hey, making shots is better than going 1/6 from 3.

I think his play was actually pretty good today, the Pelicans are very talented but they have some serious issues right now judging from the two pre-season games. I didn't really watch them last year at all.

One is easy to fix, two issues are harder. First they seem on permanent chill mode - zero hustle. Second I'm not sure I have seen a slower, more ground-bound center in a long time. He just mucks up everything they seem to try and do on defense and offense. Third they have pretty bad passing in the starting five. But it is pre-season, so maybe they change things around.

In a 33 point loss where the Pelicans shot 39% from the field and 35% from three, Hawkins’ 13 second half points on 42% FG and 50% 3P were above the norm. Not great on the surface, but a top 3 performance on the team during a rough night

He had the best +\- on the team for players that played over 10 minutes at….. -8

Adama seeing the court early vs. Denver tonight and having some trouble as he’s 0-5 from the field with a point and a foul in 7 minutes.

We’ve seen plays like that. It’s even better seeing him doing it at the next level. Honestly, between his style of play, effort, and personality, are there any guys easier to root for than Andre?
Dre’s mentality in Rudy Gays body/skillset is a top 10 player every year. And more importantly another Natty in the case

Interesting comparison
If Rudy could play D like Jackson he would be sure fire HOFer .
If Jackson develops a shot comparable to Rudy he would be a Superstar.

UConn centers abounded in this game.

Drummond finished with 9 points, 10 boards and 1 steal in 22 minutes.

Sanogo backed him up and finished 3-8 with 4 boards 1 steal and 1 block in 14 minutes.

Brimah got 2 minutes for Denver and finished with 1 point, 2 boards, and a block.

Andre continuing to impress everyone. The bucks fans are already in love with him .
Was sitting in a brewpub here in the middle of nowhere 2 weeks ago and the guy sitting next to me said to the bartender he's from Milwaukee and a huge Bucks fan. I told him to be ready to love Andre Jackson Jr. He said he's never heard of him. I left it at that.

Hawkins 1-8 last night, Sanogo DNP-CD, Andre did play 20 minutes and scored 12 but shot 5-13.

He’s earned the benefit of the doubt at this point, I couldn’t watch but I’m assuming the coaching staff told him to look for his shot a little more. He’s not the guy to take 13 shots outside of the gameplan

He scored 12+ points five times in his 3 years at UConn. I know it’s preseason, but good to see his offense is opening up more

I would imagine the Bucks staff wanted to challenge Andre by telling him to go and get his shot at will. No way that happens in regular season games.

Bucks are a good staff for Andre. Should be able to focus on development.

His form does look different. My biggest issue was that his elbow was almost 90 degrees from his body when he started his gather. From the clips I saw last night, it’s closer to the body now. Still very much a work in progress, but you’re spot on that the staff is working on him well.

Kemba also had an elbow issue on his shot. Fixing it did wonders for his shooting. Obviously not apples to apples to Andre, but that Milwaukee staff is on it. I’m really excited to see what Andre looks like in a few years

There should be more uses for apples to andre

My issue was nothing was consistent in his shot. Release point, pick up, dip, and especially his lower body were always changing.

Ball close to the body is a really good cue to keep a consistent lift.

I desperately want Andre to get over this scoring hump. He'll be a 10+ year player if he does. He's got all the rest.

His lower body looks more connected. Way too early though, he's only taken 7 threes this preseason.
I’ll never expect him to be a good 3 point shooter. But a stroke like this at a 30% clip is all he needs to see plenty of playing time because of his elite D, passing and rebounding. Very happy for him - and I’m sure working with Dame and Middleton has helped his form & confidence.

Brimah gets a little burn with the Nugs. Surprised no mention. Unless I just missed it which is very possible.

Yeah he did that similar play vs. LIU with a behind the back instead of a Euro.

Wow! That was an offensive clinic. I remember a couple years prior how unimaginable UConn's offense was and how difficult it was for them to score. Fast forward a couple of years later, watching those clips from the LIU game was a nice reminder of how good last year's team was on the offensive end of the floor.
