"Houston-Connecticut (6). With the Cougars 10-0 and angling for a New Year’s Six bowl, and still politicking for an unlikely playoff spot, every Houston game matters. The weather gods are smiling on warm-weather Houston – for now – with temperatures in Hartford expected to be in the 50s for the afternoon kickoff. UConn (5-5) is trying to lock down its first bowl bid in five years. This could be another instance in which a backup quarterback is thrust into a huge starting spot. Houston’s Kyle Postma, who spent part of this season at wide receiver but very capably relieved injured Greg Ward Jr. to lead a comeback against Memphis on Saturday, may be the guy if Ward remains severely limited by an injured ankle."

Temps will be in the 40's with a downward trend as the sun ducks behind the press box.

Yeah this is one of those temperature trap games where you're in the sun tailgating and you think it's not too cold and then the sun goes down and the wind picks up and you've been outside for 6 hours and it starts to pierce through every part of your body.

I'm bringing layers and layers and layers cause I know after awhile it wears you down. Hopefully Houston doesn't know this.

Couple of interesting notes on conference coach of the year races. One LOL and one from a candidate (or so we believed) for us 2 years ago.

Not Coach of the Year: Kyle Flood (23), Rutgers. There is neither enough time nor enough space to dedicate to the reasons why Flood is the Big Ten Not Coach of the Year. If for some reason you have not been keeping up, search “dumpster fire” and Rutgers football will probably be the first result.

Not Coach of the Year: Pete Lembo (28), Ball State. The Cardinals returned 18 starters from a 5-7 team but have beaten only Massachusetts and Eastern Michigan within the league (a combined 3-18) and FCS VMI.

You're also moving around or standing over a 500 degree grill before the game. I had 4 layers (including a windbreaker and fleece) and a knit cap for the ECU game. I'm likely adding a heavy sweatshirt and carrying in a winter coat for this one. Also I'll be wearing my boots instead of sneakers.

This is spot on about what the gameday experience at the Rent should be like (just replace Houston references with UConn)...

Herman said it’s up to the schools to not only play well, but to provide a full game-day experience to attract fans.

“We’ve got to give them a really good product,” he said. “Game days have to be an event. The experience of going to a University of Houston game has to be far better than what you experience on the couch.”

The couch experience is pretty sweet these days. But if too many fans stay on the couch to watch their teams win on TV, they may not be watching them win. They may be watching losses, in part due to a lack of home-field advantage brought on by a raucous capacity crowd.

Idk - I hate watching games on my couch. But I guess I like living life. Not watching other people live life.

Same boat, man. Nothing like a live sporting event, in my opinion. Especially at the Rent - there is not a single bad seat in the entire stadium!

First time I've ever heard that phrase ... very fitting for the Rent ... I like it!
